Some of the most iconic music in history was made on a Strat. I saw your Strat, played it too- that thing is butter.

Tele's are just flat out classy. 8 years ago when I had a massive ambition to build a custom guitar, I wanted to do a 7-string hollowbody curve-top Telecaster. Weirdly unique.

And no, I don't think you're crazy for liking an Epiphone. They're probably the best bang for the buck of any entry to mid level guitar. I know plenty of people who own both a US Gibson and Epiphone and play the Epiphone more often. One guy in particular, not sure if he's still around sadly, had a gorgeous Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop guitar where the quilted maple was dye'd to look like a sandy beach with a sunset on the water. No idea what that beauty cost, but I got to play it for 5 minutes one time after which it went back in the case and the Epiphone LP came out.

A player would have to be crazy to gig with his good stuff.Record with, absolutely, but gigging? El cheapo to the max-o lol.

    Hot damn that is awesome.
I actually have a Gibson Explorer. I ordered it back in the day. I was either 15 or 16 years old when I ordered it and had it. I still have to this day.
I paid 800 bucks waaaaaay back then. so, over 30 years ago. Funny story is, I actually went in to order a Gibson Flying V, but Gibson sent the wrong one. I played it, saw it and went home with it. lol (I got the Gibson because of the good 'ole Metallica days,....the first 3 albums.)

I'm an idiot. I take my hand crafted Breedlove everywhere. Same for the Strat and my basses.

My instruments are my tools though.

I always wanted a tele. Til i got one. Never could get the sound I wanted out of it. I love their look. Little heavy for my back issues. It was a 60th anniversary edition. Traded it on an American standard strat aged cherry burst. Im happier now. I used to have many guitars. Had 2 BC Rich, A charvelle-Jackson. Ibanez, Takamine, Kramer, and a few others I cant remember. I cant support multiple hobbies, so got rid of them all except the strat. All my money get dumped into my jeep now.

Similar boat with my Shelby. Though I told my lady that I plan on eventually getting my Mesa Trem-o-verb half stack and Gibson Explorer back lmao.

    Yngwie approves.

Dude literally throws $4000 custom shop guitars (that all look alike) into a friggin' pile in his house. I know you don't treat your guitars that way, at all, but it's funny that Yngwie does. He's like "meh," shreds some arpeggios, and eats a hamburger.

Our local Guitar Center carries a mix of stuff. The cheaper stuff outweighs the more expensive, but I imagine they probably sell more of that volume wise as well. There is really only one "local" music shop around me, they primarily carry Fender, but don't have a huge selection. The other local shop closed years ago; they only lasted a few years after Guitar Center opened.

I actually just bought a new Les Paul a few weeks back; it was a leftover 2018 Gibson Les Paul Classic with P90's. This was my first guitar purchase in around 10 years. I just haven't been able to convince myself to buy anything as I really like the way my Telecaster plays and I just play along with music from my phone these days. It was time though and the Gibson is a nice addition to the Tele.

As far as amps go: hand-made all tube amps have practically become a cottage industry.

Says (just one of) the guys who makes them. All tube, all analog, all the time. Not cheap, though. Me, and about 10 thousand others.

I had a Mexican Strat. Bought it on a whim with an amp and immediately got frustrated. Playing guitar takes practice and passion and I didn't have either at the time. Sold them not long after. I may give it another try, though....

I would love to have one of your amps in my arsenal. I just can't afford one. It would be cool though.

I would want custom features (so I don't tear into it), and have "Snover Edition" embroidered in the logo.

Thanks. I shall. One thing that might have taken me away from it was that the guitar teacher I had was not a great instructor and preferred music that was way different from my preferences.

Same. One of my dogs ran head first into my Martin one time and I about had an aneurysm. Thankfully the little 4-legged cannonball is only 10lbs. Still...

I used to have a boutique amp stack before I got married. Sold it to pay for an abbreviated honeymoon. I miss that thing sometimes. :/

Just another expensive hobby I’m glad I avoided.

One, because I have zero musical talent, and second, my fingers function like they’re glued together.

    Fun read though.

Yep, most are made in China now. I sold off my Ibanez that I had about a year ago. It was in mint condition and one of the ones made in Japan back in the early 90's. I also sold off my Peavey Bandit 65 Amp. I played for about ten years only because my Father thought all his children should play a musical instrument. I hadn't picked it up in 20 or so years and knew I never was again. I had some remorse about selling it but ended up getting a fair price.

To all the guys thinking about getting back into playing or just starting... there is a plethora of guitar lessons on FB and YT! I wish that kinda free training was around when I started playing 40 years ago! Search a song you want to learn on YT, by just putting "guitar lesson" after the artist and song. Some of the tutorials are better, and some are worse. Marty Schwartz has alot of great stuff. GuitarLessons365 is another. Ultimate Guitar Tabs is another free site for tabulature.

It is crazy how much knowledge is available with a few keystrokes and mouseclicks. Of course, when I go on Youtube to look up some incredibly difficult technique and see some 8 year old kid running it flawlessly, it definitely stings the motivation haha.

I use UG and Songsterr for tabs- great resources.

Yeah, it can be disheartening seeing some 7 year old Bangladeshi girl flawlessly playing Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover on a $35 guitar and a $15 amp. Just goes to show ya that the talent is in the fingers, not the instrument! I think I'm gonna go sell all my stuff NOW... Lol!!!
