What is the break in period for a new gt500?

This ONLY makes sense for race engines. Keep in mind, they are rebuilt from scratch after every race. Doing it this way does give you a solid breakin, but it dramaticly decreases engine life, and to race cars who cares it will be rebuilt the next week anyway.

The quicker and tighter the rings seal, the longer a motor will last.

While I did not use his method exactly over the years, I always redlined my my new/rebuilt motors for short, quick bursts. 1st oil change at around 500 miles and I've always had strong runners.


Our GT 500 had the highest stock figures that out tuner had seen....but that was mostly due to a freakish A/F ratio...but I'm sure cylider pressure helped.
