Well in all fairness maybe I should say that I was only dealing with one person at McLeod his name was Lee and hopefully his handling of the whole situation with it is not typical of McLeod as a whole I hope. Yea I got the clutch threw lethal and after almost a month Derek and Jared were finally able to get the situation settled with McLeod. I really appreciated all the phone calls and emails and understanding that those guys had with me in this situation because if it wasn't for them I don't think this would have turned out very well for me. Also it was really hard to get in touch with McLeod or get any return calls or emails from them for me and for Lethal.

Well there a lot to this situation I will have to just PM you all the details. But at first no they wanted to charge me $500 for a rebuild with Kevlar disks which is what they recommended I should use and later told me that an RST does not fit my application for a basic whipple car. Then was driving style then it was that it was a drag car. Then it was several more excuses.

I am leaning towards a Spec 3+ now. My mechanic said he's put many Spec 3+ clutches in 03/04 Cobras and he said IHO they are the best. I asked him about Mcleod and he said he has put three of them in and all three had issues of holding at WOT, he added that it's been a couple years since he has installed one.

Just installed a new 11" ProMotion Hi-clamp "Blue Printed" 750hp Clutch w/ Ford Racing Billet Steel flywheel into my 04 Cobra an it is amazing! The clutch feels/drives no different from the stocker I had prior. Theres absolutly no chatter an holds power very well, pedal is also a little lighter! Go Pro Motion, you wont be disappointed!

i had an mmr rbt700 when I had a steg port, 2.8 upper and exhaust that thing held up threw a few track outings and plenty of street races. Could of lasted a while longer but since I was upgradeing to a 26 spline input shaft I decided to throw on a spec stage 3+ while the transmission was dropped

Man you are scaring me... I just had McLeod RST and 26 spline put in my car. Easy as butter for the pedal! BUT I do intend to take it to the track and of course there are DR's on the back. Not a daily driver or a serious drag car... but crap you got me wondering! Obviously I haven't got to the track yet.

So what exactly happened to your clutch? What happened to the disc? I cannot imagine 2 - 1/4 mile passes generating anymore heat than some of my back road thrashing.

The clutch slipped on the second pass in the 1/8 mile and the disks melted basically it coated everything inside the bell housing. I have pictures on my home computer of the aftermath and the video of the track pass where it started slipping just after the 60ft mark. Another funny excuse McLeod used when I showed them the video is that they said that I ride the clutch when I drive and that I was riding it in the video they said they could tell this by watching the video. How you can tell that I have no clue. But I then proceeded to tell them that my stock clutch was still holding fine when I took it out and only replaced it because to prevent an issue like I had with the RST from happening. So if Im a clutch rider with a drag car as they like to put it how was my stock clutch still in really good shape and never gave me a problem, he had no excuse for that. I did get refunded for the 2nd one I had to buy to replace it eventually after threatening to dispute it with my credit card company. At that time I was told by a very well known vendor on here that they did not want to do business with me anymore. And told me the new RST that I bought to replace from them would not have any warranty on it and that basically if it happened again they would do nothing and not to call them about it. I kept very good record from the install to the failure with pics and video of everything pretty much and all was done by professionals which both company's seemed not care about at all. In all it took about 2 months from the time McLeod got the burned up clutch back for me to get my money back for the 2nd. So far i have put about a thousand miles on it since then no track time on it seems to be doing ok. But I have no confidence in it to take it back to the track and after talking to McLeod and the vendor neither did they. I would love to get the RST independently tested to see if it really can hold 800hp because There is some serious doubts about that from my findings and from some of the comments they made to me about it. But I guess for you if your going to test its holding power you should do it sooner than later so that there should be no excuse about long term wear on it or high mileage on it or what ever else they can come up with. I did notice that now they have a disclaimer on it that says not for competition use and the vendor has one that says not for use at the drag strip now. Thought that was very interesting. Hope you don't have the same problem I did. But keep good records of everything just in case. My car is a garage queen also it only has 11,800 miles on it and a handful of track passes on it since I bought it in 2004. This is the only issue I have ever had with it.

Wow... that sux man... sorry to hear. Hopefully the 2nd one works out for you. I went with the RST because a friend had it in his 03 that had a pretty good amount of track time and I sort of like the soft pedal with my not so great knee.

I voted for the Centerforce. 0 problems with mine and its great to drive. I have driven some cobras with other clutches and a friend of mine has the Spec 3 in his car. I like the Centerforce quite a bit better driving the car personally and they were great to deal with. I have seen a lot people with the Spec clutches that loved them but I have also seen several that had problems. (just personal experience it may not reflect the company as a whole).

So for those folks out there who have experienced multiple different clutches - which has the lightest pedal effort - the Centerforce Dual Friction, Centerforce DFX or Spec 3+? And will any hold with my combination (see signature).

I've been using Centerforce clutches in my other Mustangs literally since 1994 and usually reward good experiences with continued patronage but I've read so many mixed things on here I'm unsure if people are actually having issues or if they've just failed to properly break their clutches in?

I originally went with the RST 26 spline when I thought 550 rwhp would be the most my car would ever see and would never drag race it, but since then I had to redo my engine so will be pushing the 800 hp limit for an RST. Because of 03venum's issue, I upgraded to the RXT which I have not heard any issues with, even though my mechanic said the RST should be fine given my driving habits. I like to get on it hard occasionally (not for very long though) but will never race it. With the RXT I'll have peace of mind. Note that the 800 hp limit McLeod suggests is crank HP, not rear wheel HP.

I have a spec 3+ with a fidanza flywheel and it chatters lots and there is a slight vibration, maybe I didn't break it in properly. My next one will be a rxt twin with the stock flywheel resurfaced. Everybody I know with the rst burns them up, but then again they are all in the 600rwhp range. If I were you I would send your stock flywheel to mcleod and get it redone and stick one of there rxt clutches in, I wish I did this.
