Never could get into A7X either for those very reasons. Just sounded way too generic for me.

Anyone listen to Phinehas? Probably one of my favorite sort of sleeper metal bands.

Ohhhhh,.....you going old school, huh??? lol
I used to listen to this a long time ago. Before they made it "big time".

All the way back to 2003!

They're a band that I'm 50/50 on. Some songs are good, and some are one and done. Good for a short revisit then back into the abyss lol.

Quoting my post because Phinehas is going on tour with As I Lay Dying! They are covering the East Coast and Midwest it appears which sucks for me cause I would love to catch that show.

There's hope for Alternative music afterall! Been listening to these guys for a bit so I have to pass it on if anyone is looking for decent new alt rock. Has a good 90s feel to it with some songs reminding me a little of Silverchair, but they still have their own distinct sound.

This is a simple, short song but it is my favorite that I can listen to over and over repeatedly.

Gleemer is another good one in that genre.

One of my all time favorite albums. Their best album in my opinion.

Currently on the turntable:
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction (1992)

This pressing is from MOFI (Mobile Fidelity) with 2LPs, rather than the usual 1LP pressing for this album. They spread the album over 2LP allowing for a higher fidelity, and more "space in the music".
Adding to the great sound of this MOFI pressing, is the fact it was mixed from the original 1" analog tapes.
A "AAA" release is what this pressing would be qualified as.
- Analog recording
- Analog mixing
- Analog mastering

Lightening up the mood a bit...
Beck - Colors (2017)
Grammy nominated

This is 2 LP @ 45rpm rather than the normal 33rpm. Again, the faster speed improves fidelity (much like the 2LP rather than 1LP).
Most time they just dont use 45 rpm because it takes up so much more real estate on a single side of a 12" record. Usually just 2 or 3 tracks per side.

Up next:
Alice in Chains - Dirt (1992)

Originally released in 1992, however my copy was released in 2009. I opted to not seek out an original pressing of this one. The original was mastered digitally during the "loudness wars" of the early/mid 90s from the record companies. My copy is mastered digitally as well (unfortunately) however it is not compressed to shit like the original.
Whenever possible, I seek out original presses of albums, however in some cases the price vs sound quality just doesn't make sense (as in this case).
Sound quality will always trump original press/colored press/etc. However some originals were available colored. (such as the Beck - Colors album above)

Had time to play one more quickie before dinner earlier.

This one is just a 7"
Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Where'd Ya Go?
(1991)

Not sure how many Bosstones fans are in here, but this classic is one hell of a catchy tune. They also put on a hell of a live show.

This original press was limited to just 500 in the yellow.
