Back in June I wrote an order for a new Boss 302 at my local dealer. Details were a bit sketchy at the time but I have a contract in hand.

Once more details are available and the order banks open, I hope to sit down and get a Laguna Seca model on order for my new track car. 'Scarlett', my beloved 2007 Shelby GT500 will most likley be down the road when it's replacement comes.

Who else has one coming with a written contract!?

Bruce, I have a signed contract in front of me, "First in line customer for Laguna Seca Mustang. Deposit upon request."

Dealer told me sticker at most, be willing to work with me. I've dealt with this dealer since 1993, and between myself and my family have bought 14 cars over the years from them.

I will say this, anything over $45,000 for the LS, and I'll go with a regular BOSS, and get the two options and maybe order the splitter and change the rear spoiler.

I am restricted by price. if the car prices out at $40k plus, i am probably out of the equation. I could get an LS if i gave up racing. I could then give up my truck and trailer. I dont commute to work, so I dont need a daily driver per say.

On the other hand I am a dangerous on a race track in less than racing conditions. Bruce can attest to this.

This might be a good time to quit racing. Then why would I want a track car?
Yea, I am pretty torn right now. I wish my bank account didnt require these kind of choices.

I have a deposit on one as well here in South Carolina. It will replace my R as the track car. I think that the LS will be out of my price range as well, my guess is in the $65k range, with the regular Boss coming in at about $41k (though I hope that its less).

For 37K I would be in for a regular Comp Orange Boss. I'll be looking for one with the Torsen/Recaro option.

I can't imagine that being more than a $1500 option considering the LS that comes with those options is only $4k more.

I'd add the Boss 302R BBS wheels, lowering springs, longtubes and a tune and call it done.

Hey dave, I saw on nems you posted you saw the boss in person...How was it? Did they give you a price? My diesel is paid off in august next year. So I can get a boss then depending on the price.

Hey what's up ?

Car looked really good in person. The orange is soooo tempting, but you know everyone will want that color.

No price yet, but car will be out in March/April of 2011.

I'd be very surprised (pleasantly) to see the LS in the low 40s. I base my judgement on the Cobra Rs. For example, 10 years ago the 2000 R sold for $55k new. Like the LS, it was a limited edition of course, a track car that was street legal. So as much as I would like it, I believe a LS will be priced above a GT500 by quite a bit. Regular Boss will probably be low $40s.

Ford people at Mustang Alley/Woodward repeatedly said they DO NOT want to creep into Shelby GT 500 territory for price or performance for the Boss and Laguna Seca..

Remember, the 2000 R had a different motor, exhaust, seats, fuel, cell, etc. The Boss and Laguna Seca are going to be sharing these same parts.. I really don't see the car being much more than a couple of grand over a base Boss.

Possible, and again I hope that you're right. I'd love to sell the R and buy a LS for track duty. My concern is that the small quantities and unique suspension of the LS will put it up there. In the low 40's, they'll have many more buyers than cars for the LS model.....
Wish they came in different colors though. The black/red one is very odd looking, but I can probably live with the silver/red. Wish they had a Grabber Green version!

my fear is that the LS goes R and gets sucked up by collectors who leave it as a damn wrapper.

Sounds good Dave. It was my understanding the Boss will be mid to high 30's. The LS might push price to $40k? We shall see. :-D

My exact plans as well. My R (current track car) will eventually become a museum piece displayed on my shop taken to special events only. :coolman:

This is always a risk on limited edition models. :cryying:

I really hope not, back in the day a boss 302 was more expensive than a 428cj and the 428cj would run away from a stock boss 302 on the street. Let's not even talk about a boss 429, same deal and they were even more expensive though if I had half a brain would of bought a boss 429 stored it mostly and sold it like 4 yrs ago. I could of bought a 69 boss 429 for less than sticker what a d/a I was. It set on the back lot for 2 yrs. White and black. A ls needs to def be reasonable and at least 1000 cars imo. Hell dealers tried to rape ppl on the 03 in volume of 1000's. I myself heard 38k+ and told them to well u know.

if you are comparing a car engineered for road racing with a car with a big block engine and using a traffic light to light drag race as the example, the cj would run away.

as soon as you put a turn in the mix the cj was screwed. the 69 boss 302 was more expensive because the body had been changed. the front fenders had been flaired to carry wider rubber and the air catching rear quarter fake air scoop was filled in.

the Boss had an actual road racing engine in it. it had a different suspension and brake package than other mustangs. it was the best handling american car of its period. no one ever said that it had more hp than a cj or a 426 hemi or a chevy 427.

road racing is never about bragging on big hp numbers.

Well they said i was number 8 on there list. They also stated that anyone who pays the adm fee will get theres first. A bunch of casinos out here are paying stupid high admin fees to give away cars at the casinos. The manager said they will only get maybe 6 or 7 seven at most and of those maybe one LS version, i would be happy with the regluar Boss version but it looks doubfull out here.

So my alternate plan was to get the base model with the eibach coil-over kit, and the 625 frp supercharger. Then down the road I will replace a few other things and a couple more mods.
