I am getting restless and thinking of something new. A SCd 350 has my interest. Flores has a youtube on why this is no problem at low boost and in fact the voodoo is well suited for this.

Who has done it? Anything else needed beyond the tuner kit? Axles, dif, etc? Any advice?

    Thanks.

Wondering the same. It needs a little something extra. Thought about twin turbos also.

Here is the Flores link if you are interested

The Gen 5 whipple kit has me interested as it appears to be plug and play.

when i was thinking about forced induction for mine, i was more worried about the clutch and tranny than the motor...and i was one of the unlucky ones with a replacement motor. McLeod had some issues at first(i'm sure they're fixed by now) and the mantic was like 2500-3000. another thing i noticed was it seemed after someone went through the process, i never saw much of the car afterwards. lethal's whipple'd 350 disappeared...could be that i'm just paranoid.

if i were to do it, i'd be looking for a 16 white stripeless R(close to being out of warranty) on the cheap and just be prepared for a rebuild. guys will be dumping these things like crazy before warranty is up.

They're not really unicorns anymore, there's a couple of blown 350's in my South Florida Mustang groups.

The stock clutch will not hold up. The Mantic triple disc is that expensive, but if you're just going 700-800 wheel, the Mantic twin or the Mcleod 1200 is just fine and both are significantly cheaper than that.

If you're just going for 800-850 wheel, the GT350 is just fine on an E-85 tune. I personally wouldn't take a 12:1 compression motor (voodoo or not) past about 750 on 93, some guys do, but in my opinion that's a ticking time bomb with a bad batch of fuel.

For 800 rwhp, a whipple or a procharger is just fine and even the stock fuel system can handle it easily. The one supporting component that's almost assuredly going to fail is the clutch.

Id agree if you can find @ msrp, otherwise you could twin turbo a 350 with supporting mods for the ADM that most dealers want on the new 500

The GT350 motor is fully forged. Theoretically it should be strong AF. The early cars have many documented oiling issues and some failures, but i never read/understood the true reason.

I wouldn't hesitate for one second to throw boost at a 18+ 350. I would go turbos, but any power adder would complete the gt350 package IMO. Definitely not enough power in stock form for what was a "halo" car up until a few months ago.

I've toyed with going the twin turbo route on my R. Most of what I've read suggests swapping to billet OPG'S and crank gears for insurance and plan on replacing the clutch.

Go back a page or two in this Forum. An poster on here bought a Whipple 350R for his girlfriend a couple months ago.

I'd ping him for an update.

Famous last words but I do not see much value >750. I think this platform would be perfect at ~700 whp.

700-750 is all I would do (personally) on 12:1 compression and pump 93. Maybe if you wanted to add torco to every tank you could push it, but anything more starts to get pretty balsy with how hit or miss 93 is. I also live in South Florida where IAT's are a bitch 6 months out of the year.

They could've saved the trans if they didn't keep beating on it.

Just be careful with those 5.2 Predator engines.
I know of 4 or 5 forum members on the other Mustang forum with replaced engines with super, super low miles. I think most of them had under 1,000 miles.

Back when my machine shop was fixing my Mach engine, they had an 87 mile Voodoo engine that was getting some work done along with a Whipple being installed.
Probably all you would need is the usual stuff for install unless you want big power.

    Pick your poison.
