Will Ford ever bring back the glass roof as an option on Mustangs?

I don't know that they sold very many in the years they were offered but I think it has more to do with exposure than desirability. If you've ever sat in a glass roof car you'll know what I'm talking about. I just sold my glass-roof '14 GT500 last week and can't wait for the day I pick up Ford's next GT500, ideally I'd like it to have the glass roof.

Any chance they bring the glass roof back?

I think it has more to do with the shape of the roof than anything as to why we don't have it on the S550 yet. I suspect the double gurney bubble adds considerable strength to pass roof crush safety standards.

I could be wrong but I think it may have only been a 10-12 option. It would be cool but they are pretty heavy and expensive

They don't add that much weight, although it is at the worst place possible. I'm pretty sure it was an option from '12-'14.

Did you not read my post? I just sold a glass-roof 2014 that I custom ordered from Ford with the option.

Does anyone have a pic of the double-bubble roof on the S550s?

It would be great if Ford did re-introduce a glass roof on the Mustang. My wife's Hyundai Azera has a glass roof. I think they really look great from the outside, and, well, great from the inside, too.

I always thought the glass roof was a cool option. But I just don't see it coming back as long as the roof has the design that it currently does. That little double bubble crease would have to drastically add to the cost of the glass roof.

Love the glass roofs, on the later S197's it gave the roof such a clean look, and a great experience inside. Mom and I both ordered our '14 mustangs with them. It was ~$800 option... well worth it.
(just have mine now, since mom's gone)

Glass roof option not to wise in AZ, it burnnssss

My parents have one out here. We live in the desert where it gets over 110 frequently. With the shade closed, it doesn't let in hardly any heat. Even with the shade open, its not bad at all. If you get a chance to drive around in one in the middle of summer, give it a shot. You might be rather surprised.

Lets see, ford does the glass roofs about every 60 years, so approximately 2070 it should be available again.

I LOVE my glass roof. I would think that it would be a desirable option that people will look for in the future. It adds 27lbs, it's stiffer than non glass roof, and it was a $2000 option on the Shelbys. If it ever comes back out, grab one.
