So, with my bad back and two bad knees, the annual camping trip to Yosemite has really become less fun and relaxing, and more of a burden on my body because we tent camp. So I picked up a little sumpthin-sumpthin to help me out.

Do you think with a proper setup, I can tow it with the L?? :D

26' Forest River Wildwood travel trailer with one slide out. The inside cabinet storage (pantry, wardrobe, etc) is pretty nice, but the outside storage on this thing really sucks. But it was the floorplan that really got me.

We just picked it up today. Bought it last week at an RV show in Pleasanton.

This years Yosemite trip (June 12 - 20) will certainly be a lot nicer for my beat up body.

I can post up some interior pics tomorrow if anyone is interested.

PS - No B, I already said you can't borrow it! :p

PSS - No "freaking out" Bob! ;-)

EDIT: I'm not seriously asking if the L can handle this baby. The only thing that will be towing it is my red Excursion in the picture. Mods in my sig.

I think the tow capacity is 5000 lbs??? I could be way out though since I never have towed with my L and I no longer have the hitch

very nice setup. i would think that with electric brakes on trailer you could tow it

LOL, no way brah! The wheelbase of the L is wayyyyyy too short, plus the dry weight of this thing alone is over the limit of the L.

Hmmmm, Forest River does have an Ultra Lite 21' model that would be just barely over the tow capacity of the L!

:-D

My parents towed a 28' with a bronco for years and never had a problem.

Well, even though it is only a "rule of thumb" guideline, the "optimum" wheelbase of the vehicle towing a 26' travel trailer should be no less than 134" http://www.rvtowingtips.com/how-long.htm

It is not a hard and fast rule, but on the flip-side of the coin, just because someone has done something for years without mishap doesn't make it safe, it just means they were able to do it safely.

Now, I could see a Lightning pulling a 26' fifth-wheel trailer, even though it may not fall into the "guidelines" (I haven't check into what they are for fifth-wheels), but not a bumper-pull that weighs as much as mine does fully loaded.

You guys do know I wasn't seriously asking the question about the L towing it, right? That's my red '00 7.3L PSD Excursion in the picture hooked up to my new travel trailer.

Performance mods done to the Ex are in my sig.
