I am trying to clean up my under dash wiring for my boost and wideband gauges.

Specifically I am trying to do away with the add a circuit taps to I can reinstall my fuse box cover and again clean everything up.

I was under the impression that I could pull some wires/terminals out of another fuse box and add them to mine.

This doesn't appear to be the case because there's no connection to the bus inside the fuse box. Adding a wire/terminal provides no power.

Is this correct?

Is there a way to add wires to the fuse box without the stupid add a circuit connectors?

If I can't what OTHER options to I have to provide power to my gauges?

Thanks.

If be interested in not needing one of these add on set ups. I have one triggering a relay that powers all my stuff under the dash. Though I need to get under there and move some things around.

I am digging into it to see what can be done.

So far the only thing I can come up with is tapping into the wires after the fuse box with a T tap or otherwise.

Doing this under the dash won't be easy and removal of the seat 100% necessary unless you've got a kid you trust to shove under there.

I'll report back with what I ended up doing.

Does anyone have a GOOD cabin wiring diagram starting from the fuse box by chance?

A list if switched ignition sources is what I am really after. There has to be something that can be used.

Maybe these will help? Had to break it down to 3 pics. I’m thinking the best way would be like what DSG2003Mach1 suggest. But I’m not sure if the way you are thinking is possible or not. Would prob have to pull the fuse box out to confirm that.

@JaCobro thank you for those pictures. They do help.

I've got two ideas here.

1. Fuse 12 is a heated PCV valve that was added to all 03-04 cars and is a switched source. I honestly don't see the need for it unless you drive your car in extremely cold weather. I've already deleted mine to clean up the engine bay.

That wire could easily be cut and used to power gauges. I also believe it could be pulled out of the fuse box and replaced with a heavier gauge wire/terminal.

2. is the accessory plug inside the center console.

I can't find it but I believe its a switched source. If it is then that is an excellent option as it's a 20 amp source.

Can someone confirm if that plug is not hot all the time like the cigarette lighter?

I'd do it myself but my car is a long way from having power put to it.

if I could go back I think I'd run a fused power wire into the car and have a little distribution block set up to power all the accessories
That's kind of what I did with the relay. I ran a power wire from the connector at the fuse block under the hood and ran it inside. I tapped into the circuit for the convertible top to activate the relay. Since I don't have a vert it works decent. But I would like to get rid of the add-a-fuse like blkkbgt.

I do have a distribution block in the trunk that's connected to the battery for my amp and pumps as well.

Does appear the power point is hot at all times like the cigar lighter.

I think you would be good with the pcv heater circuit idea. But im not sure about being able to fit a larger terminal end.

I swore that port inside the center console was dead with the key off.

My car has been down so long I can't remember.

I can still use it if I wire in a relay and provide it switched power just not what I wanted to do.

As far as the pcv power the same terminals are used for various sizes wires. I think I have some that are the same terminal but a larger gauge wire.

I'll see if I can get that wire/terminal out of the fuse box and see. Even with the seat out and the fuse box unbolted it's tight.

Well I just went to confirm it on my car with a phone charger, and it is hot at all times. And in the process I found mine had a blown 20 amp maxi fuse. Lol

It’s always a pain working under the dash even with the seat out. No fun working upside down. Good luck brother.

Sorry this took so long for me to figure out. The holidays hit and I haven't be able to really touch my car until today.

I was able to pull the heated PCV wire from the under dash fuse box and replace it with a larger 12 gauge wire.

The wire that already exists is only 16 gauge. You can probably get away with running one gauge on it.

I can now feed a secondary fuse box and route switched power to things like gauges without using add a circuits.

This job is a ****ing bitch though and if you're a larger guy you might need to bribe a smaller friend to do this for you. If you've ever done anything under the dash you know what I am talking about.

First you need unbolt the fuse box so you can move it around to work on it.

Next pull the red plastic lock off the fuse box.

Then you need to pull back the little plastic clip that holds the heated PCV wire in and pull the wire

I replaced mine with a 12 gauge wire the I pulled from the junk yard out of another fuse box. You can see the to terminals are the same.

Here you can see the new wire installed.

I won't be able to completely finish this for a while but the hard part is done.

Good info. Thanks for the update. I have at least one gauge right now that someday I’ll get around to installing too. Haha. I’ll keep this in mind for when that day comes.
