Because a lot of people who are suicidal don't always want to just die. Most of the time these people have psychological issues that could be treated with medications and therapy. Most suicidal people just act in the moment when they decide to commit/attempt suicide. They see no other way out than death, when in reality, there are other avenues that could be taken.
