I ran an 02-03 ZO6 at the track last Saturday. We were about dead even until I missed a shift at the end of the track.

He ran a 12.9@112 VS my 13.1. I trapped 100 mph on that run where I usually trap about 108.5. I think if I wouldn't of missed the shift it would of been a closer race, but I was still happy about it.

Yes, get the 4:10's. Wow what a difference and you will be running low 12's with a stock pulley and some sticky tires. I love mine and it is still my best mod to date.

Thanks Everyone

I don't think I'm going to do anything to it more this year. I'm going to go ahead and finish my dodge spirit should be in the 13's with slicks once I get my new turbo rebuild, but one this is I want a 12 second time slip this year and I'm getting closer.

A guy I work with has a Z06. We went to the track last year. He ran a 13.046 @ 111.93 and I ran a 13.057 @ 109.97 (stock). We had fun all night. We were going back to the track about a month ago but got rained out.
My cobra now does 12.18 @ 119.

Nice run man

Arent most Z06s supposed to do 12.1s stock?
Well there suppose to do about 12.5, but there's some that have gotten down to 11.8 stock. There's always that factory freak or above average driver.

It depends on the track too...
Last year I put a set of headers on my Z and the best I could do was 12.31, I went to another track and ran 11.72.
Stock I ran 12.5 which may have equated into 12.0's at a better track. My stock 03 Cobra went 12.6 at the same track so they are very close indeed.

I threw a cam in this winter and ran 11.51, and I'm guessing 11.20's at the other track.

In response to the original question, a Z06 vs an 03-04 Cobra is a drivers race. Equal drivers the Z will win due to aerodynamics and weight but not by much. If you missed a gear, I bet you could have won.

Don't Z's trap 114-117 and Cobras 110-112? I was under the impression that stock a Z will win everytime and will be pulling pretty good after that. I always thought that under equal conditions a Z is ~.5 sec faster (12.3-12.4 vs. 12.8-12.9). Am I wrong?

I ran 12.50's in my z06 stock. I have vids of old dudes with their Z06 with headers, intake ect and couldnt run better than a 13.x. I just laughed when they asked what my mods were -- none.

I know this is a noob question, but, do you have to have a soldi rear to change gears, or can you do it in the irs????

I was able to run 11.72 with headers on my Z.

No you do not need a solid rear to change gears. But you have a better chance of snapping your half shaft with higher gears. A fairly common problem on both cars.
