RTR rear deck lid rust!

This hasn't even been on my car for a year yet. its rusting with paint chipping!

I was under the impression that they were plastic like the OEM ones. Or maybe thats the new ones? Because the ones I've seen have RTR across the whole decklid not just the bottom corner
