This PlastiDip stuff is really cool. After about an hour and 4 layers of light spraying I was able to remove the plastic and the leftover product around them emblem. Took 1 minute to clean up both sides after painting. They make red, clear and grey as well.

Only thing that isn't blacked out are the tail lights and the front Cobra emblem. I think it stands out more unpainted

I really need to figure out how to shoot this color in the middle of the day. Only good time is sunrise/sunset. Luckily I live right next to this resort so the backdrop makes up for it

Looks great! I look forward to doing my Cobra emblems as well. I did my rims and posted them up on S197 forums last year. Still happy with the outcome! -Shane

What size are the front and rear wheels? The dish looks the same from the pics?

Looks great! Anchor Room is an awesome site. I do really like the outlines on the hood.

Thanks!

18x9.5 front, 18x11 rear. Same dish style just a little bit larger in the back

like everything except the outlines. nice ride!
I wasnt sure how I would like them either but they are growing on me. From about 6 feet away you cant even see them. They accent the hood lines very well. The pics don't do them justice

What's the finish of the plastidip? Is it like bed liners? I want to do this on aluminum grilles for my L.

EDIT: Is it just a cheaper version of powdercoating?

Its a rubber coating. Supposedly it doesnt take much for it to flake off, especially with a powerwasher. A lot of guys clear their emblems after coating. I may do that as well

It's a plastic spray that comes off pretty much like a condom. It will never flake off, it just doesnt work that way. I wouldn't take a pressure washer to it however. It works well over painted surfaces but not as well to metal surfaces. It's the latest crazy on S197 forums..lol.

Jefe...thought about doing the entire recess of the hood like I have? Mine's painted but for shits and giggles being that you could take it off I'd say its worth a shot.

Here is a rim shot using Plasti-Dip

arodsvt did that on his, then switched to just the recessed portion. I like the more subtle outlines like I have on the rear bumper
