Back to the track with my 2010 GT500 coupe.Temps were warmer than last weekend with mid 70's.

1st run 100% stock on goodyears 1.886 / 7.842 / 12.063 / 118.63

2nd run on 26'' x 16 MT ET streets 1.773 / 7.623 / 11.794 / 118.74 and she got real squirrely in 3rd.

3rd run I raised tire pressure to help with the loosness (1st round of eliminations) I dialed 11.69 and ran 1.729 / 7.555 / 11.702 / 119.10.

4th run I let my 18 year old son drive and he got scared ( smart kid ) when he got squirrely in 3rd so he let off.

I guess I need a new pair of slicks probably 28'' as those 26's are way to loose.

I only launched at 3000rpm as the bang and hop was terrible in all gears I will put in some upper/lowers before returning to the track.I feel that with the U/L's I will be able to launch at 4000 -5000rpm and lower my 60' to the mid 1.6X and get her into the 11.5x.

Nice runs! Blowing off the tires in 3rd. gear takes driving ability to keep the car straight with a soft sidewall!!!

im surprised no one hasn't said anything about letting ur kid drive ur car...nice runs by the way

I say let him!^^

He is my oldest and has been following me to the track since he was 2 and I let him race my stock Mach 1 last season and my 05GT this year running in the 13.30 on street tires. He does get to drive these cars on the street unless he is following me but he has a good head on his shoulders so I let him run my 2010 GT500 last week on street tires then this past weekend on the slicks. He is into the drift scene and is saving up to buy a 240SX or similar for next summer.

Nice runs and great 60ft with the stock goodyears, very impressive. What was your mph in the 1/8, just curious, thanks!

i thought you were gunning for smith, with a stock gt500 and gt500 w/ tires. i you throw u/l on you that will not be the same correct?

will you go back to stock when the cooler weather roles around to take the stock gt500 record?;-)

I will not be able to get back to the track till early oct and that is still my goal so all I will do for now is to order a new set of slicks...

doubtful its spinning the tire, its more likely the tire moving around with bias on the back, radial on the front it feels squirrely. Its something a lot of people think they need to steer to correct and in fact that makes the problem worse. I have seen a few mustangs/vettes/vipers hit the wall because they tried to drive out of the loose feeling instead of steering straight. Those are awesome times, I wish I was in a position to pick up a new '10, they are great looking cars. Ill take a stripe delete kona blue one :)

That is a really stout time for a stock '10. Did you ever run your 07 Coupe in stock trim for comparison?

awesome times

I took mine out to the track yesterday for the second time hoping for 11s after having run 12.33@118 on street tires....im not sure if its my driving skill level but my best 60ft on stock tires was 2.03 with a light 1st gear clean up of the tires not a burnout.....anyway yesterday i had a set of 275/40/17 M/T Drag Radials loaned to me mounted on 95 GT rims and I was hoping for 11s....made 6 runs of which my best time was [email protected] 60ft was 1.83....maybe its my driving but i really thought i would get into the 11s.....I let the car out of the hole on the first(best) run at about 3200 launch the car hooked but i had momentary wheel hop, I just quick shifted the entire day so it also probably cost me a couple 10ths forsure....their was a bit of a head wind but the best i could get after the first run was a 12.24 and a 12,28, tried a 3000 semi slip the clutch off the line and mash the throttle and only got a 1.95 60ft.....to say the least i guess i need practice forsure and i should powershift the car. I noticed it was difficult to powershift my shelby, does anyone have this problem or is it just me?

Nice runs Ted! 1.8x 60ft with the stock tires is nuts!!?? Are the 2010 tires alot better than what the 07-09 had? My friend can't get his to remotely grab at Napi on his 07.

They are the same Goodyear F1's but in 19'' the track prep has been real good for the last couple of weeks and I guess I found the sweet spot.

I met a guy from MD who ran in the shelby shootout with us and he told me his car on the stock tire with stock air pressure and very lottle burn out had a best 60' of 1.78 and ran a 11.44 at the time it seemed a little hard to swallow but then I watched him run and he didn't run the same numbers that day but nobody did it was a poorly prepped track. Then to my suprise I told my son about it and he took his 08-500 with a evo stage2 on the stock tires and ran a 11.50@125 with a 1.82 60' so they CAN hook better than you might think it just takes the right slip of the clutch and trottle...
