Car went to Modular Madness/DSE Speed & Tuning (Mooresville NC) in Feb 05 for installation of Crower Stage 3 cams, longtubes and some Griggs front suspension stuff.
Car came back to Texas in May 05 completely fugged up.

I've not posted anything because I hoped to resolve the issue privately.

I've spent a month replacing parts, fixing things and trying to track down the major issues. On Friday, the major issue showed it's ugly head when something let go inside the valve cover.

This is gonna be long. I'm not even going to go into detail about the problems I had just getting the car back.

As the car comes off the truck:
- Every dash light was on (theft, check engine, fuel, abs)
- Steering wheel was off 80 degrees.
- MGW Shifter handle (not the knob) was spinning around freely.
- Clutch pedal was nearly impossible to push in.
- Fog light was out
- Wideband gauge was not working.

First drive:.
- It was nosing over badly, bucking, backfiring. Had to rev it to 3K and slip the clutch just to get it moving.
- Vacuum was at 9-10 psi at idle and fuel pressure was 50+ at idle.

Next day:
- Took it to have it aligned and the brakes looked at.
- K member bolt was hanging on by a thread.
- A/C line was broken in two.
- Foglight connector broken
- ABS brackets were dangling behind the wheels.
- washers missing on k member- AC line was broken and had to be replace.
- Lock nut missing on clutch cable
- Bumper was dented/broken. Headlight support bracket broken.

Took it to the dyno to see what it was doing.
- completely cut out at 5300rpm
- So, as long as you kept the car between 3-5300 rpms, it ran.

Under the hood.
- wrong idler pulleys/broken bearing in idler (shipped with new BF black idlers installed)
- battery hold down and bolts missing
- bolts for coolant crossover tube missing
- Compression test showed 120psi on all cylinders
- Intake spacer installed with red stuff, leaking the whole way around.

Dropped the fuel tank.
- Sending unit arm was broken off and laying in the tank.
- Fuel filter was on backwards and clogged (not kidding!!)
- Bits of plastic shrink wrap (from the new pumps they installed) laying in bottom of tank with bare wires on the pumps.
- Focus pumps had focus socks, not the much larger 03 Cobra ones.

Got a new tune from a different tuner
- He read the tune that was on the car and was appalled. Said he'd never seen anything so messed up.
- New tune did not fix the backfiring/missing/hesitating, but finally got all the SES and dash lights to go away.

Decided to check the cam timing.
- Broken intake bolt
- Two torn intake gaskets
- Blown o-ring on crossover tube leaking coolant below the lower intake
- Cams were off by 1 tooth on both sides
- Car ran.idled a litte better but major problem still there.

Replaced a few more parts to try and track down the problem.
- Replaced ECM
- Installed 60lb injectors
- No change

Other stuff:
- None of my takeoff parts were returned (they were supposed to be shipped with the car)
- SCT handheld not used or returned. (they used a chip even though I wanted the car flashed)
- I was charged for a bad 02 sensor that went bad on their dyno while they were tuning my car.
- Got a COD notice from fedex for $1065 for the return of my stock parts. I refused the shipment.
- I have not paid the final invoice they sent the day the car was shipped. That invoice was for an ecm, pumps, dyno 02 sensor and plugs (sent new plugs with the car). Previous invoices for the other work/parts were paid in full by check (at their request).

MM response to all of this has been "it must have happened in transport because the car was perfect when it left." They will not accept my phone calls or respond to my IM's or emails.

Of course, there is much, much more to this story that I won't even go into.

On a positive note. A few vendors and members of the Modfords and SVTP boards, and a few friends here in SA have gone way above and beyond to try and help me get this situation handled. If you guys want to speak up, feel free. I won't bring your names into this unless you want it.

Tracy

Here are a few pics of some of the broken things.

Holy crap! Looks like they totally ruined your car. That was a lot of work to be done wrong.

Hope everything works out.

On a side note...didn't this car get wrecked just before this? Maybe that was someone else, I don't remember exactly.

It sounds like someone dropped the car off of a 10-story building, or maybe the carrier lost your car driving over a bridge? That's some pretty bad stuff there.

Background.
I've been dealing with this company for almost 4 years. 95% of my mods on the Cobra and the Lightning have come from this company, inluding the motor in the cobra, KB blower, exhaust, tunes etc. etc. They offered to come get the car (the shop manager had to drive to TX for another matter) and install cams, tune etc at their shop and I was supposed to fly out and drive the car back.
I've met these folks personally (they came to TX to tune) and spent many hours talking to them over the last few years.

In short, had a relationship with the shop and completely trusted them.

Tracy, I don't know what to say. Except murder may be justifiable under these circumstances. After all the problems that you have had to put up with now this garbage happens. You might want to pm EsqEddie (sp) and ask him about legal remedies. Do you have a good local shop that you trust to help you out and give you a place to work on the car? And take lots of pictures to use in court if you do go the legal route.

The car is at HPP in Lewisville TX. They're doing a tear down and I'll know the extent of the motor damage next week. They are 99.99% sure the failure is cam related.
I have lots of pictures and invoices documenting what's been done to fix it since it's been back from NC.

It's been a rough couple of months but things will get better and I'm a strong believer in "what goes around, comes around."

Holy shit man!! I be looking into hiring a private investigator if I was you to see what went wrong etc. Thats just horrible what has happened here!!! Did they provided you with some kind of insurance for the shipping? Not that it matters though cause I dont think it be that bad right to the ecu of your car if it was only dropped from the truck but with all this stuff, shit man Im just freaking angry!! Good luck man and keep everyone updated how are the things going!

Tracy, OMG! I can't believe that list. I mean, it's so bad that either someone messed with the car in transit or they gave you the worse bit of work in history. Man! Did the transport from NC to TX take any longer than expected? Any excessive miles on the odometer? If not, I'd get myself a lawyer and go after them. You've already started to document the issues, along with pictures. Continue that process and get HPP to provide written documentation as to any issues they found, what they diagnose happened and what they did to correct it. It seems pretty clear to me that you have a good lawsuit here. JMO.

Trace.......it can only get better at this point! I'll be praying for ya!

That does suck that your car is messed up. Do you think the shipping company had anything to do with it?

I had an old car that was shipped from California to Mississippi on a car carrier. When I got it, it was scratched up and the whole front bumper was off and all lights were busted. Turns out that they put it on the top of the carrier and drove under some trees (scratches) and when they were off loading it the guy did not put the ebrake on and it rolled off the rear of the truck busting out the light and tearing off the bumper. I ended up getting insurance money for the car.

I don't understand how someone could be so careless. Look at the fuel filter...it looks like they bent it up trying to unhook the lines. Who knows what else was done to it while it was in their hands. I may expect this type of work if you took it to a dealership, but not a shop you have known this long.

I commend you for staying so calm through this whole process. I would of gone off on them long before even trying to diagnose what they screwed up. In my opinion, they owe you money that you have spent figuring what they did not do right the first time.

Good luck, hope everything works out and you get back the car you deserve.

The body damage is due to the fact that someone bent your front spoiler on a curb or ramps. I ran into in high curb when parking. It was a loud snap. It was broken in the same three places as yours. Check the black piece attached to the bottom of your front spoiler; your see more damage or where they ran up on somthing!!!

When I replace the fiberglass piece under the hood(by the headlight):Im' not sure if I want it panted because you can see the painted color from the opening in the front of the car; black would look better ....what do you think?

Please let me know how you repar the body and the cost.
