Widest tires for factory 04 rims

What's the widest tire that would fit safely on the factory 17x9 Cobra rims for the rear of the car? What different brands do I have to choose from in the widest size as well?

If you want drag radials, Nitto 315-35-17s will fit...

I have the BFG Drag radials on my 10th anniv. wheels and on my Chromies! Oh and they are 315/35/17's!!!!!

Aren't the BFG 315s too wide for the 17x9 rim?

They will fit, but they dont look right IMO...seems there dimensions are different from the 315 Nitto's which are a bit narrower.

nope they fit just fine. As far as im concerned they look alot better than the 275/40/17's that came on the car.... The 315's fill in the wheel well! If you look down the side of your car you can see that the front tires are even with the fender and the rears set in w/ the 275's. But with the 315's (BFG's) that lil buldge fills the fender well in... I have had mine on the car for about 7000 miles and the tires are wearing even and the car has been daily driven for the past 8mo. Its a OPINION thing everyone got one! :shrug: I think it looks good!!! :-D
