just wondering what are people using to boost the 2.3, just bought a cobra swap with 2.3 whipple (gen II) and came with a 2.75 pulley, my tuner is telling me to use a 3 inch on top and a 4 pound lower (about 21psi) but what about 2.75 on top and 4 pound lower?
is it too much boost for a 2.3? what about belt slip with the 2.75?
this setup is going into a 90 coupe.
please post info. thanks

What color do you have? Cobra inside? I love my Fox 03-04 you can see it at [URL="www.texadaracing1.com I would think that pulley combo should make 23 lbs.

I have a 3.1" upper and stock lower and it makes about 16-17 psi. I don't like the issues that people create with the charging system adding big lower pulleys. Most people get about 18 psi out of a 3" upper, if you wanted to be closer to 20 psi, you could always add a 2 # lower and a 3" upper and avoid putting exsessive stress on the alternator.

I run a 3.0 upper and stock lower and see 17-18psi. I've also run a 2.75 upper with the stock lower that saw about 21psi. If you run a Reichard Racing pulley, you will little to no belt slip at all with a good tight belt. You might also want to buy a tensioner brace if you are going to run high boost (above 20 psi) on your car all the time for added insurance.

If you have a Gen 2 Whipple with a 2.75 upper and stock lower you should see around 21 psi.

Don't do a lower if you value your engine.

I have a 2.60 upper and stock lower on a Gen 1 Whipple. It makes 20 psi right now.

I tuned it myself on E85 and it runs Great! Haven't had it on the dyno yet but should be around the 700 RWHP mark.

I have 2 pulleys - a 2.9" and a 2.7". The 2.9" makes 18-19 psi and the 2.7" makes 21 psi. Of course, that is through the stock manifolds. I'm getting ready to put headers on the car so I expect the boost to drop around 2 psi on each pulley combination...

Either way should be fine...your tuner will make more money off of ya with a lower setup, install fees plus lower pulley(unless you install it)...I say stick to the upper, and save some money...

2.75 / stock lower it is.
nitrous kit is also going in, so don't matter if it makes 19 or 20psi.

GOOD your crank shaft will thank you too. I don't like the aftermarket lower pulley solutions, They appear to not have the snout support of the stocker's at a time when way more torsional twist is being seen.

Just my opinion.

BTW: I'm running a 3.5 with a stock lower and the thing is ridiculously fast. But when I go to the track, I'm going open tracking, IE: 20 minutes of hard HARD continuous running.

How do you only make 20lbs with that pulley. I was told that I would make 22 with a RR 2.70 on my Gen 1

A Gen 1 will make 13 psi with a stock 3.5 pulley. 17 psi with a 3.0 pulley and 19 psi with a 2.75 pulley.

I only gained 1 psi from my 2.75 pulley going to the 2.6.

Your not going to gain 3 psi going from a 2.75 to a 2.60. Your only changing pulley size by .15 of an inch.

Whipple pulley combo and boost

Im running a 3.0 upper and 2lbs lower and my areoforce guage shows just under 16psi with this it is just hooked up to the odb2 port right now. Could this be correct. This is a gen1 whipple and I have headers with no cats.

I have a 4" lower and I'm thinking about changing it to a 2# and keeping the stock pulley 3.5 on the whipple. I'm looking to make about 550-560rwhp on a safe 93 octane tune... What do you guys think ?
