I was searching on how the back light on a cluster works and I found this.

This is a junk cluster i had with the face lit up by a house light socket.

Very cool.

Unfortunately my Accel Lunar gauges have burned out their electroluminescence.:nonono:

However my factory cluster still works just fine.:rockon::beer:

Are you sure the inverters didnt take a dump? I've had 3 different inverters in my cluster so far.

"It burns out. At 60hz (household) it'll lose 1/2 it's luminosity in
about 7 years of continuous use. At higher frequencies, this is much
faster. At 2000hz it's still in the range of hundreds of hours and the
stuff is quite bright."

My cluster is fine, however the Accel gauges started with just a few dark areas and now are almost completely dark. Would that happen if it was some kind of inverter?

I would think an inverter would affect the whole thing.:shrug:

So they look like the cluster i have pics above of? Splotchy? It very well might be the EL sheet has gone bad.

Yes, only they started out splotchy and now they are almost completely SPLOTCHED.:-D

That is awesome...Makes me wonder if we could change the color....I think red would seem pretty badass.

Red would be badass or white with red needles.

Some one has come up with a way to make them white I know that much I seen a pic while back on here
