I have a SRA out of a 03 Mach. I love it. Same gears, same brakes. Everything just bolted right in. Plenty of info about SRA swaps on this site.

Bushings & tires? I know I'm pushing the stock half-shafts,but that's what trailers are for!! mine are still original.

I raced on my stock half shafts for 6 years launching on slicks and spray getting low 1.5x 60' and mid 10s.
The IRS had poly bushings and a diff brace.
I believe the bias ply drag tires absorbed the shock and saved the half shafts.

When I had my 96 Trans Am and blew the rear, it happened as soon as I let the clutch out in 3rd gear at WOT

wondering the same as others above about tires, bushings, etc?

yea no wheel hop its got fulltilt boogie bushings ford racing newer style cover...it was at sacramento hottt as hell ....I made my last pass at 11 pm it had cooled down for over two hours IAT was in the 70S instead of in 100s during the day .....so it was on a mission i felt it moving till it broke....:burn:

Drag radials transmit too much shock, bias ply drag slicks will wind up and absorb most of the shock yet the power is stored in the sidewalls almost like a spring.

Drag radials are much harsher power delivery.

My vote(if I get one) is keep the built IRS, sell the drag radials, get bias ply slicks and spare wheels for the drags.

And R compound treaded DOT road race tires(R888s!) for the grip on the street that won't put you into a guard rail at the slightest sprinkle of rain.
