What is the function of the black box that is inline with the IAC hose (that runs from the intake across the top of the alternator to the inlet tubing). Has anybody ever removed it with no problems? Thanks.

What would cause no voltage to the cam position sensor? The car is hard to start and we replaced the sensor but then determined there is no voltage to it when the key is on, engine off. So, it's not firing properly when cranking. Once started, it runs fine. Thanks.
