Gear shop is getting ready to rebuild and set up my diff. He said the Ford performance gear specs calls for .011 to .016 and he would feel comfortable setting it at .011 but would set it lower if I wanted. I have always felt there is too much back lash and can hear the clunk sometimes when...
Found a shop in central valley (Fresno) who specializes in differentials and has done many 8,8. I had used them many years ago and had a bad experience, but in the last ten years they have a new owner, manager and location and great reviews and the head guy will be doing my diff. Very pricey...
I dropped it today, didnt wanted to deal with removing diff while under the car on jack stands. The car has original 15k miles so Im not concerned with the bearings. Now to Find an expert in my general area to replace diff gears and set up correctly,
For various reason ive had the sub frame out 3 times, but man what a pain it is. So Im getting ready to replace gears in my diff and wanted some thoughts on just dropping the rear part down, can the diff be removed easily that way or should I drop the whole sub frame again?
Yes for the last couple years I considered 3.55 but I like my rpm when cruising at what it is now around 2600 in 4th at 63 mph. Thats what speed I can go with out getting stopped in a 55mph zone. I do like to get on it but the 3.55 and 3.73 are not much of a difference with acceleration so Im...
I went with 3.73s when I had my trutrac and didnt like it, didnt make much differnce in acceleration from stock but put the rpm range in no mans land when either in 3rd or 4th while cruising. Dont want to go to 4.10s so I just want to stay with close to stock and LMRs deal for the 3.31s...
Thank you, I have a complete ford performance kit with 3.31 gears and the ford performance (irs)outer bearing and seals from LMR and a solid spacer kit in the shopping cart ready for order--soon as i get my diff removed, but very nervous on where Im going to bring it for set up as I want it...
The last time I did the rebuild on my irs differential I had no problem getting right parts but now ive gotten my self a little confused as to what rebuild kit is right for the irs as there seems to be a difference with solid axle or irs. Like do all 8.8 rebuild kits fit the irs ? also there...
Thanks, I had already tried a tru trac, didnt like it thats why I went with the Torsen, works better for me.
Thanks, where is GTR located.
I was hoping to find a place in central calif. or central coast calif. There is a place in Fresno Ca. called Fearless Gear, but I had a bad experience...
A few years ago I changed to a Torsen diff with stock gears. I had a local shop set it up using a new rebuild kit that had a crush sleeve. When I installed it there was a bad whine on acceleration so I brought the car back to shop and they tightened the pinion nut. That worked for a while but...
Im not going to tell you not do it but I will say its probably not a thermostat problem. I would lean towards head gasket/water passage or radiator problem. You might be able to gut the thermostat but that could be a tough job. Here is a thermostat that I went with that has worked really well...
Ok thank you, that is out of my price range and it is not a direct bolt on without adapter, I think Wilwoods are but not sure, going to give them a call on Monday. There is also a brand with Speedmaster logo but I think it is a Wilwood caliper..
I did find the Wilwoods separate calipers but its unclear if they are a direct bolt on, and not clear if you have to use Wilwood pads only.
For Baer 6p is a model but could not find any separate calipers with part# for mustang.
Ok so ive gone thru many posts here and other sites and there seems to be no real answers. I ask what 6 piston upgrade front calipers without buying the complete kit are available. I have seen some Brembo and otheres with kits but not just the calipers. I have seen ford focus rs and Cadillac...
Hope it works for you, if your existing sending unit is good and new pump screw holes line up and wire (plug)connections match, you should be ok. For me when needed replacement going with just the pump didnt work out so well and ended up going with complete unit (bosch) with the hat. hopefully...
If you havent dropped it yet, you might find out how difficult it is to get tank away from the filler tube, although it is possible to change out pump without completely removing the tank. The other thing is its sometimes very difficult to remove the fuel line from the tank nipple. There are...
Dropping the tank with more than a couple gallons can be tough, I found out the hard way. You cant normally siphon out with a hose but when I needed to drop my tank a second time to replace fuel pump, I used a 1/8 hard plastic line like the ones for an oil pressure gauge. I was able to get it...
Just for my and others future knowledge, how did you know it was the factory stereo doing the draw?---I thought I had a draw for about 1 1/2 years, even though the battery checked out with no problems it turned out to be the battery. Also if it was the factory stereo, could the problem have...
