My car used to sit for a while. When it did, I made sure to put a battery float charger on it just to avoid this very issue. If you can get a OBD2 code reader you can test after several miles to see when all sensors switch to the "ready" state.

With top down - Windstop is amazing at keeping the cabin calm while driving. I never really had any issues with summer driving my Cobra, but I do have tinted windows and mostly park in a garage. The other obvious is using Windshield sun shades when you do park in the sun.
