Any metallurgy gurus here? Curious about IRS aluminum arms..

I use to be the Forman at a heat treating company years ago and occasionally he got plastic and rubber coated assemblies that the customer wanted us to heat and burn the coating off to recover the metal (lots of big electric motor field coils to get at the copper).
