Just thought I would let you guys know, I just ordered a Bassani exhaust system from Sal at PSP. Sal has talked to a performance shop on my behalf that has tuned 12 or so 00R's and they have found as much as 395 rwhp from this system with the chip. Apparently it eliminates the stock Cobra's 4 cats and replaces them with two high flow cats. It also replaces the cat back system. I believe one or two of you guys already have it what do you guys think?

Sal is also sending me a chip for the R. It is a four position chip. For you guys that don't know what a four position chip is, it comes with a dial that can be rotated to any of four positions. He burns the programs in the chip so you can just rotate the dial to the program you want to run. You can have a program for the drag strip, another for open track, ect. On my Lightning I even have a valet mode that will kick the rev limiter in at 3000 rpm. It's a pretty nice setup. This is not Sals own program, he is getting it from a performance shop that I mentioned above that have tuned alot of R's.

Sal, is one of, if not THE man for chips for the Lightnings. I run his chips in both of my L's and have found them to be the best of all the brands tested.

So what do you guys think? Will I be happy with this setup? What have you guys found to help these cars. We havn't discussed much about what mods we have found to be worth it and which have not.

Brian, I have got the bassani off road x pipe(no cat convertors) and the bassani cat back system on my R. This exhaust combo is not "Quiet", but is does pull harder on the top end now. I know the exhaust improves the performance so let us know how well the chip improves the performance.

Paul,
Did you have to install something to prevent the computer from throwing a code because the coverters were gone. I believe they refer to it a a mil eliminator kit or something to that effect?

I installed mil(malfuction indicator lamp/ the yellow check engine light) eliminators. Got them from dallas mustang. They are just an inline connection between the after the cat convertor oxygen sensors and the factory plug. No cutting of wires. Just plug in and go.

I was also told the is only about 5hp difference between the bassani off road x pipe and the bassani high flow 2 convertor x pipe. I went for the most hp gain with the off road x pipe.

Brian, or should I say "Brain" according to your post

,

395rwhp sounds real good. What is the best way to get a hold of Sal? I will have to discuss this with him. Because of my ram air set up I believe I am running quite a bit leaner than you guys (my gauge shows I am running on the lean side). Maybe he can send me the chip and I can have a shop around here do adjustments on the dyno. Or is it just a special tuned Cobra chip?

Post your email addy. and I will get in touch with sal,and ask him to get ahold of you. I always talk to him on IM so I really don't know what the best way is other that that.

Here is what the switch looks like for the four position chip I mentioned above.

brian (the brain cobra owner) - the bassani system works real well. it has two cats (high flow) so the sensors are not an issue. joej had the same done and his dyno was something like 37hp and tq higher at the rear. it is louder, tho not much more than the original. there's less back pressure to the engine so backfirs crop up on heavy deceleration. but then that to sounds cool.

the chip. does sal have one dedicated for road course. the scca requires any chip to fit inside the original computer. therefore a rotary chip won't work for me. thanks
