None of the dealers in my area were willing to sell a new Cobra for MSRP, so I drove about 250 miles to Portland, OR. Picked up my shiny new Sonic Blue coupe and headed home with the girlfriend driving behind in my old car. It was the middle of the day, perfect weather, perfect visibility, divided highway, two lanes each way, and light traffic. About halfway home I got pulled over for doing 81 in a 65. My V1 didn't help since the guy was using laser (who knew they had laser in Oregon? ). I immediately pulled over and was very polite to the officer. I told him I had just bought the car (obviously). He asked for proof of insurance. WTF?! How am I supposed to have proof of insurance on a car I bought two hours ago? I told him my current insurance card was in the car my girlfriend was driving (she pulled over, too). Anyway, he gave me the ticket. I thought there was an unwritten rule: you have absolute amnesty from tickets on the first day of owning a new sports car. :coolman: But seriously. I know two cops: one's an Oregon State Trooper, one's a city cop in a Seattle suburb. Both said they would have given a written warning under the circumstances. I just had to vent.
