Thought I'd ask the people who live in that area, as they might be able to help me out. I havent been to vegas in right at 12 years. The last time I was there I was 15. So.... I wasnt exactly legal/don't remembe much.

Anyway, on to my questions.

My best friend and I are thinking about a trip out there in February. The 25th - 28th. We are going to come out for the USAC Sprint Car/Midget race on Wednesday the 25th, then the World Of Outlaws Sprint Car race Thursday the 26th.

I need to know what some good hotel ideas would be that would be somewhat reasonable, and someone close to Las Vegas Motor Speedway?

I am more than likely going to book it through either Travelocity or Expedia, so just need to know of a good hotel to look for on there to see if its offered. We will be flying in from Kansas, and then renting a car.

I just don't want to spend a TON of money if possible. Neither of us gamble much at all. It would be VERY VERY VERY little if we did. We just never have gotten into it.

Well, if anyone could please help me out and point me in the right direction it would be helpful!!

Thanks everyone,

Kyle

well if are renting a car and dont mind a little drive... I dont know if you want to stay on the strip or really just be close to the track...

If you have AAA book through them its usually leaps and bounds cheaper then any discount site...and if you dont have AAA it still may be cheaper to sign up and book through them...

In all honestly its cheaper to book through the hotel then the discount sites...call them...

Sometimes the hotels frown upon those who book with the discount sites and will dump you in lesser room then if you would have booked with them directly...

Luxor usually has some really good deals this time of the year...and they always have a 10% discount if you book a non-refundable room... Luxor has seen better days...but its still decent... and directly connected to excalibur and Mandalay bay.

take a look at

or pm with me with any questions...you are going during the valentines day week so prices may be a touch high.

vegas is my 3rd hobby

i live on nellis afb which is like 3 miles away from the speedway. it is vegas so there are hotels freakin everywhere. id say just make sure its a brand name. why not stay on the strip and drive out to the races, its probably a 15min or less drive from the strip.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies! I'm just new to this whole vegas thing, and just don't wanna be in a shitty part ya know. At first my buddy and I wanted to stay way out north somewhere close to the track, but.... I guess now he has decided that since we are going to rent a car, that he wants to stay somewhere on the strip. We are thinking Circus Circus. I did a quick check if I get EVERYTHING through Southwest Airlines, Flight round trip, hotel, and rental car... its going to be roughly 400 a person after taxes, give or take alittle. I checked their website and its actually more expensive to book it through them directly.

So... I guess I'll play it by ear. I just know that I'd like to get something figured out soon, cause its only going to get more expensive the longer we wait to book it.

well circus circus is old...and kind of a shit hole if you ask me...its really not near anything...and will be full of kids... they do have a pretty good steak house. Its not worth staying there for...it would be long walk to the better hotels, a pricey cab ride...or a pain in the ass to drive...

im telling you check out the website I listed in my first post...Honest reviews on all hotels...a map to show you where they are etc etc... http://www.cheapovegas.com

Aliante Casino is brand new, really nice, and like $49 a night!!! Plus its really close to the track. (which will come in handy after all those beers at the track  )

If you wanna stay on the strip, try ballys or planet hollywood. They are pretty reasonable, and kind of in the middle of the strip...
