I need some advice on where to go and what to do, best places to check out from nightlife to views as well as things to do during the day. I’ve been reading through the threads to get some ideas :read: but everything seems to change so much from one thread to another.

I won’t be making the trip for a few more months + but want to plan this trip out opposed to my last spur of the moment trip which was a failure :nonono:(only went for a couple days and drove there-- Bad idea) This time I’ll be there for around 5 or so days and flying

Here is what I’ve come up with as far as ideas thus far (from the threads):

Go downtown and check out Fremount street :??:
Rent a Viper
Stay toward center of strip, more action :coolman:
Volcano in front of the Mirage
Pirate show at Tearsure Island
Bird Show at Tropicana
Carnival at the Rio
Lions at the MGM.
Busy during SEMA :burnout:
Club called Moon :dancenana:
Voodoo lounge:dancenana:

Questions:

Reasonably priced hotels (won’t be in room too often)
Best time to visit weather wise/price wise?
Best views?
SEMA? Worth it or no? I don’t like when it's too busy lol :bash:
Best places to eat? Price?
Best place to rent a Viper at? Any big cruises in the area? :burnout:
How long of a trip should I make it? How many days would be best?

Any experience and advice would be great! All recommendations are welcome!

Thanks

Josh

If money is no object, stay at the Venetian. That place was hands down my favorite. I stayed at Luxor and it was very nice as well, but I liked the other end of the strip more. My second piece of advice would be to actually do "tourist" things rather than just drink non stop like I did. The weather in the summer is ridiculous. It's like an oven, but a 3' Long Island will pretty much drown out anything heat related. lol. For me, 4 days was the absolute max. Some other people will surely chime in with more advice.

Thanks man, I think 4 sounds reasonable. I don't want to spend a ton of money. I guess i'm looking for the most cost effective solution lol, I don't plan on being in the hotel too much, more so out and about checking out the places. I'll look into the Venetian though and see what they are charging.

Any idea on when a good time of the year to visit would be? I don't want to go when it's packed

But you don't have to worry about johnny law swoopin down on you

Well I wasn't referring to like whores on the street corner

I doubt i'll be on the prowl for some whores on my vacation lol but if you know of any good deals on some please feel free to post the info up

Last time we went we stayed at the Palazzo; my wife's company put us up there and it costs major $. If you're looking for a good location to stay for not a lot of money, try Imperial Palace. It's right across the street from Caesar's and is really cheap. Also, Luxor, Excaliber and Tropicana are on the strip and not too pricey.

If this is your first trip there, I'd suggest doing all the tourist stuff. Be sure to include the Forum Shops at Caesars when you go. If you're interested in a young crowd, go to the Palms or Hard Rock. You may want to go to the Shelby museum as well, it's about 20 minutes northeast of the strip. The Wynn also has a very nice auto collection.

If you have a choice, go in October, the weather is beautiful.

Here is what I’ve come up with as far as ideas thus far (from the threads):

Go downtown and check out Fremount street. Is surrounded by streets like vanburen(sp) in Pheonix.
Rent a Viper ... They put a governor on them 100 MPH max.
Stay toward center of strip, more action :coolman: Good idea.
Volcano in front of the Mirage
Pirate show at Tearsure Island  Pretty cool even better up stairs at the social house(sushi).
Bird Show at Tropicana  Nah.
Carnival at the Rio  Nah
Lions at the MGM. very small but ok, MGM is very nice.
Busy during SEMA :burnout: Always busy in Vegas.
Club called Moon :dancenana: Any where at he Palms.
Voodoo lounge:dancenana: SUCKS ASS NOW OVER RATED BIG TIME!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Questions:

Reasonably priced hotels (won’t be in room too often) I like the Imperial Palace, decent place cheap, next to very nice places.
Best time to visit weather wise/price wise? Any time they are hurting for money.
Best views? Tower at Paris.
SEMA? Worth it or no? I don’t like when it's too busy lol. SEMA is great if you can get tickets, it's not open to the public.
Best places to eat? Price? All cost money. Social house is very well priced for Sushi.
Best place to rent a Viper at? Any big cruises in the area? Same as above.
How long of a trip should I make it? How many days would be best? 4 days at least.

Answers in red. Carnival Court outside Harrahs is fun. Hard rock and palms if you are into the younger crowd. Going to a club is almost more of a hassle than it is fun unless you have a hookup. Walking the strip and stopping for some drinks along the way is a blast.

Stay at the Golden Spike (Hella old and cheap and a dump but the rooms are clean)and spend the rest of the money taking a driving course from a multitude of driving schools at the raceway. Or not.

Go see Ka. We saw a few shows the last time we went and its the best.

Yeah, i'm not going to plan anything out I just want to know what is in the area and the good places to check out. Last time I went I had no idea where to go or what to do, I felt like after leaving that I had done nothing but walked around a bunch of casinos rather than seeing anything interesting. Don't get me wrong there were definitely some interesting things going on but I was not too informed on what places to check or look at.

Didn't even know there was a monorail, but i'll stay awake if I find it this time lol

I drive truck and i'm in Vegas twice a week. Right now is the hottest time of year and if you can handle the heat it is not a bad time to go. There is always something going on but the hotels are usually quite a bit cheaper during the week. The hookers are first class, since prostitution is legal. The bunny ranch might be worth the trip to carson city. Go see the hover dam for sure. Shop around for hotels, I realy don't know about the night life only stayed in vegas a few times, but good luck.

We stayed at the Mirage last year during SEMA and loved it there. SEMA was bada$$, thankfully a member on this site hooked my wife and I up with his passes. Went to Fremont St. last year just to see what the big deal was, won't be going back again. It's way old, smokey and smells funky in most of the casino's. There is absolutly no action happening there, so visit it during the day. Two years ago we stayed at the Alladin's in July and really wasn't that bad weather wise. There was no humidity at all which made it pleasant. So don't let the high temperatures scare ya. I think next year we will be staying at the Paris, or New York New York.
