So I started the big transformation yesterday......... Here's a list of what's being done
1. Clean and Paint rear housing
2. Weld Tubes
3. 35 spline Strange Axles
4. C-Clip Eliminators
5. Strange Spool
6. Team Z Relocated Uppers
7. MM Extreme Duty Weight Jacker Lowers
8. Strange 10 way shocks
9. All New Bearings
10. Ratech solid Pinion Shim
11. New FRPP 3.73's
12. Clean up all rust and undercoat
13. ARP Ring gear bolts
14. Seasoned Stock Rear Springs

So I started this yesterday and as of 7pm tonight still not finished :eek:mgno:

Yesterday I got everything stripped out, tubes welded, housing cleaned down and the first coat of POR15 on it.

I know welding the tubes in the car is not the correct way so nobody has to point that out but when you are promised that you can borrow someones jig and that someone falls thru shit still has to get done!!! I did the good old 2 inch stitch weld on one side and then the same on the other as to not distort the tubes to bad. It's worked on many other of my car's over the years so I am sure it will work again lol.

First time I have used a solid pinion shim and all in all it's nice to know its all set up and if the pinion seal ever goes bad all I have to do is take the pinion nut off change the seal and the re torque the nut to a 125 ft lbs. It did take me a little while to get the shimming correct with the solid piece and pinion depth I played around for about an hour changing stuff but got a good pattern and good back lash at .011

Tomorrow Ill put the cover back on get the ride height adjusted, pinion angle set, Sway bar painted and reinstalled, and the anti moan brackets cleaned up and painted.

This not having a weekend thing is really starting to bother me lol.

Got it all buttoned up today and quick test drive done. Slight slight slight whine in 5th gear at 65-70 mph nothing crazy and I think it's in the trans as the rear is quiet in 4th at that speed and in neutral. Got the ride height set,Rear centered and pinion angle adjusted to -2.0 on my back I'll adjust it more on my buddies drive on lift when I align it I really want it at -1.5. Gotta loosen up the rear shocks I got them set on 5 and man they are stiff lol.

I laughed my ass off when I backed it out of the shop and cut the wheel all the way to turn and it clanked popped and snapped like a 4wd truck. Just gotta get my self back in the mindset of tooling around with a spool. More gas making sharp turns and just gotta remember it's back there like the old days. Perfect on the highway switching lane's at 80 plus no real new noises the old one's are gone and were replaced by solid bushing noise that I have always had in other cars.

Nice to spin the tires and continue straight not counter steering the rear of the car. Also checked my front end since I needed to replace the R/F hub bearing and found out my junk needs tie rods too.

Anti moan brackets painted, cleaned up and reinstalled.
