So SVT No Longer Gives out Free Info?

Called and they want $40 for a cert and wont released any info on my Cobra to me without paying for a cert. :shrug: Just wanted my build # and build date...He said funding was cut and they used to but dont offer it free anymore

They are now selling $50k+ cars/trucks and they cant afford to release this simple info? Interesting.....

Started buying Fords because it's a family thing and I wanted to make the underdog go fast. With enough money, any fool can make a Chebbie go fast.

I can remember when you could buy a SVT product used and still get the welcome letter and the SVT Certificate for free. They would give you the build info over the phone for free and talk to you with enthusiasm all day long about the vehicles they built. Now they barely have time for any questions and treat it like a bother.

Got that right.
The person who bought the '96 from me didn't request any paperwork. So I still have the build sheet, SVT cert and window sticker.

I miss the '96 but the '04 is leap years ahead.
Especially the IRS. It rides so nice and doesn't give you any surprises like the SLA did.

Of course it took a little effort to get the IRS correct. It's something Ford should of done off the assembly line.

Don't know, mine was built 3/04.
Most '03's were made in 2002, the year they were first in production.

Stand by for more data. I am looking it up now. I do know that 03 Cobra unit #8391 of 8394 units was built on 08/01/03. One of the last three 2003 Cobras. I should be able to get a close build number for your date of 01/24/04 in a while.

Unit #1705 was built on 01/24/04. The same day as yours. Your number will be close to that. Probably within 20 digits up or down.

in case it helps, my documentation shows that coupe #1581 was built on 1/22/04.

a comp orange vert was built exactly on 1/24/04 (that was a saturday?) but it is a vert so that prolly wont help you at all with the build #

I got all mine free, heck they even (not the svt dept but ford) sent me a brand new window sticker first class they have changed all that now.

No, not all of them. Only what I have collected through the years. I did a SVT Certificate for unit #1705 a while back and remembered the build date. I have about 100 Terminator VIN's on file, 109 2009 GT500's, and 177 2010 GT500's.

The 2010 GT500's I have by VIN, build date, and selling dealership. Just a hobby!

Nows thats #1705 out of all 5,664 Cobras in 04? Who has #1705? They built 20 or so per day from start to finish? I wonder if they did the colors in order or how it went....

Production begins for late 2003 builds: Sept. 29, 2002 (some say the date is actually earlier in September)
Production ends for regular 2003 builds some time in early May (to be verified). The 10th Anniversary model was built in June/July of 2003 (to be verified).
Production ends for 2004 builds: March 31, 2004

The production date range for the 2004 Cobra model is August 1, 2003 through March 31, 2004. Total units, 5664.

Woops I was looking at 03 production #'s. So if they already made 1,705 by January 24, 04 and stopped at 5,664 on March 31, 04 then That means they built 3,959 Cobras in 59 days??? Wow! 57 per day? Is that right? 1/24/04 - 3/31/04 is 59 days.

If they stayed like that from the beginning that means they would of start production 29 days before mine was built which would be late December....
