What a car! Id love to at least have a ride in one of these classic beasts. lol, factory rated a 330hp... Im guessing that 428 Cobra Jet was making a bit more than just 330 hp

The Cobra Jet put out 410 @ 5200 rpm. Car News TV did a segment finding the real horsepower of old muscle cars a while back.

When I was in high school in the mid 80's, there was a black GT500KR for sale locally. Totally restored with a price tag of $10k. Try and get one for that price today!

You aren't missing much. I just had my 428 Cobra Jet rebuilt to stockish specs and dynoed. It has a larger than factory roller cam, long tube headers, roller rockers, and motor made 408 flywheel horsepower. I've done some checking with other expert FE builders and they said the hp for the combo was about right.

When you hear people talk about how fast car from the 60's were, they were delusional.

I did, 7 or 8 years ago now. Barn is closed up, with an old truck parked blocking the doors. I'll see what I can do...
