I guess I'm glad I went to the effort of building a 4lb caged lower for my 2.3L TVS.

well this is the first time I've seen it from a 2.3. I've only seen 3.4 and up break them and even those are few and far between.

It was on the dyno being tuned . He said he was at 5k RPMS on one of the pulls and the car shut off ; he said he didn't know what happened & went and looked and saw the belt off and crank pulley hanging there...

I feel bad for you man, but, the engineers at Ford knew what they were up against when they went with supercharging these cars. I cringe every time I see a setup like yours.

Blowers put an additional strain on the crank snouts, especially with their length, thus the need for a support system. I hope you get it sorted out and have learned a valuable lesson. Good luck.

Sorry to hear.

For those surprised at this happening, this is the unfortunate risk of running an uncaged lower pulley. While increased stress from larger blowers definitely contribute to this happening, NO smaller blower is immune from the risk of this happending. This has happened with guys running Eatons before, and on several occasions. Some people run uncaged lower pullies for years without an issue. Others, such as the OP, aren't as lucky.
