my car is being worked on now and was wondering as I likely have a u-joint making the loud metal slapping sound and mechanic will try to wiggle out drive shaft without taking exhaust out. Note I have a solid axle in. N is u-joint labor wise easy to do overall or pita?

You shouldn't need to pull the exhaust to get the driveshaft out. As for the actual u-joint it depends on how long it's been in there. Usually I use a hammer and socket to pop them in and out. But I did some work on a 69 corvette that was pretty much original. That one took a press, heat, and penetrating oil to get apart.

Ty as my mechanic is good and I wanted to ask you guys as the labor will be much less if he doesn't have to take exhaust out . Fingers crossed it goes well
