This little guy had a rough day a few weeks back and basically had to watch his dad die in front of him...and it was not pretty. Add to that that the boy is autistic and it compounded the trauma for him. Me and the other officers who were at the scene decided this little guy could use a little help and our police union decided to donate $1000 to help him and his grandmother out (who now has to raise him). I invited them to our HQ to pick up the check and give the little guy a tour of the station and whatnot...and they showed up with the local news reporter. Totally was not expecting it and I thought it was nice that the grandparents wanted to give us some positive press. Very nice people. The boy's name is Jacob Scholl. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
