Hey all,

What's difference between these two? I'm a fan of both but i've noticed lately the WEC has the same ref's and the same "cutmen" that the UFC has.

And earlier today I saw Jens Pulver moved from the UFC to the WEC and the announcer (Frank Mir, ala just whipped up on some Brock Larson UFC a$$!) said it was a lateral move

What gives? Does Dana White own both? Does one "compete" with the other for airtime, advertising dollars?

i actually think the Ref's are independant contractors and work whatever fight pays them. I'm just speculating of course, but i've seen refs like steve mazagatti, mario yamasaki, and the black guy(forget his name) host fights for a number of MMA organizations. I think the only ref i've seen do only the ufc is "big" john mcarthy

Dana White does not own the UFC, he is merely the president... the Zuffa corp owns the UFC. It appears the the WEC has more lower weight classes, much like boxing, but lacks the heavyweight/light heavyweight classes. The lightweight class in the UFC is stacked, and with the aging pulver may not be as dominant as he first was, but it could also be rooted to he's had problems with the UFC in the past.

The WEC and UFC are owned by the same guys. Think of the UFC as the big show.

100% correct.

I would love to see Urijah Faber(WEC Featherweight champion) add some weight and fight Sean Sherk, Jens Pulver, Matt Serra or BJ Penn.

The Zuffa corp owns the majority control of The Stations Casinos here in Vegas.

+1 Urijah Faber vs. BJ Penn(or Jens Pulver for now since he's pretty much dominated everyone else) would be awesome!!
