Damn, I have the EXACT SAME question! From the looks of it the 40941 has 2.5" openings which would fit the stock tubing on our cars, so that one will fit. Does the 42 have the same opening size?

I'm also concerned about how it sounds... So yes, is anyone else running these mufflers??

My car has a BBK catted x-pipe and the discontinued XR-1 cat-back. It's a unique sound and not something I would've bought personally, but I really do enjoy it. And my neighbors hate it. Hehehe...

hey are both 2.5 inch so will fit all 2.5 inch catbacks. one is 12inches long and the other is 16inchs. im thinking most mustang mufflers are 12-14in long.

im pretty sure theres a few members on here with the oval ones which i belive sound better. a few clips on youtube

imagine this but a little quieter and smoother sounding

I have Borla XR-1's on my ride. I used part# 40941
I had all the piping fabbed up though. Mine dumps right behind the rear tire.
It sounds wicked!!! Everyone compliments me on how it sounds. It is very loud at wide open throttle

XR-1's are crazy loud. if you want a deeper sound try the Borla pro-xs. they are pretty quiet while cruising but sound awesome at wide open throttle.

I like the pro xs too but think they may be too quiet with cats. If its too loud with xr1s oh well it will sound amazing not my daily anyways like my green cobra was.

Thanks I think that part number should work for me as well. Mine won't be as loud with cats
