He is mid 700s on max boost I would guess. Around 730s.

I didn't really want to say for fear of scaring off any possible competition, but your guess is nearly spot on.

The picture posted above is my car at Fbody Beach week in Myrtle Beach. Thanks for the compliments gentlemen.

And for the guy that asked about VA, I don't venture too far from home in this car. I trailered it to Fbody beach week.

I hate to pop up on a new forum and look like a troll right away, and i'm sure that's how this looks, but I didn't have much luck on LS1tech (not as many cobra owners as I thought over there I guess). I haven't had the opportunity to race any KB or Whipple cobra's since I've put a D1 on my Trans AM over a year ago. I am leaving the country soon on a deployment and wanted at least one opportunity "stretch the legs" on my TA before its parked in a garage for about 10 months.

I'm in upstate SC, (GSP area) about 1.5 hrs from Columbia and not too far from the NC state line. If anyone is relatively close to me and wants to have a little fun, let me know and we can kick them off. I don't want to narrow it to just cobra's either. If someone has a car in general with >500hp and is close, you are welcome to race also.

Seems like you should be looking for 700HP not "in general with >500hp". I think you need to change it to "in general with >700hp". Doesn't sound much of a race with a 500HP car unless you just want a win under your belt.

I'd have better luck finding a needle in a haystack. And i've had a couple of cars with a little over 500hp stay close to me. Mainly because they were setup extremely well and had some serious weight reduction. HP is just a number.

The wheels are Summit Sport Mags. I don't know if they make them for Fbodies anymore.

Plenty off twin turbo cobras and there are several 2.9 or 3.4 running on corn. Hell im north of 600 at the wheels and plenty of cars by me put 700 + to the floor. If you think there's nothing out there to challenge you trust me every dog has his day. I was in SC a few months back and passed a cobra and the plate read 800RWHP.

Am I the only one thinking something here is wrong? He comes in wanting to run a TS Cobra but also says cars around 500hp are welcome as if they'd be a good run? Then another guy says he feels bad for the Cobra who comes out...

I'm thinking there's more to this T/A then he's hinting to and he may just want to make a video of squashing a Cobra. Good luck finding a race though. I'd run you if you were closer.

OP, whats your deal? you make 730...and want to race a ported blower car? come one man. get serious. a high 9 second 135+ mph car versus an 11 sec 120 car, lame. you definitely are an f-body owner. I think there are 2 port only cars running 9's. PAGING BADASS03SVT AND DIGITIAL TO THE STAGING LANES. one of those eaton guys would be happy to clean your clock.

EXACTLY. I am the one that mentioned why run a 500HP Cobra? Why not find a cobra close to 700HP and run it? Just doesn't make sense to me. OP mentions that HP is just a number. I don't care about the weight, etc...running someone 200 HP more than you, the odds are against you. I say if your going to race, race someone in your league. Again, not saying your doing this, but it looks like you just want to notch your bedpost with a win over a cobra.

OP mentions finding a near 700HP is like finding a needle in a haystack. Honestly, I think that is BS. There are plenty of cobras out there with more HP than that on stock blocks. I think you just need to look in the right places. I think on a good day at the track, you will find some.

I am not trying to call you out, just seems funny that you want to run someone near 500HP.

Don't forget the 2.8L!! Over 700 on pure 93 octane 16 degrees timing and 19.23psi. There are plenty of 9 sec cobras in the upstate he should be able to find one to run. I just do not think they post on many boards.

North 700 vs 500

If racing an inferior car is what gets you there why not just have your buddies test drive a stock GT and you go rape it on some highway? Racing a car with 200 + less at the wheels is like screwing the town whore anyone can do that! Now getting the prom queen would be a notch it your shifter :pepper:

Guys, what does the title of the thread say? Does it say "looking for a ported eaton cobra?" NO. Does it say "looking for a 500whp cobra?" NO.

It say KB/Whipple cobra, or >500HP car in general. Notice the > sign? That means MORE than 500. Notice the word "car"? That means not excluseive to a cobra.

The guy with the ported eaton is just the only guy relatively local to me that stepped up for a race. A friendly race at that. I'm not out to make anyone look bad, make fun of their car, or go back and brag to everyone about how I killed an inferior car. This guy doesn't have to run if he doesn't want to. If I was looking for an easy kill, why would I let on to what kind of power my car makes? What does he have to lose though? Everyone would expect a car with that much less power to lose, so he can only exceed expectations.

Please quote me where I said "weight isn't an issue". I think your reading comprehension is the issue.

Everyone on here saying "700hp cars a everywhere" doesn't live where I do. I've said already, there are a few here that are well over that mark, and would eat me for lunch. I asked for any car >500hp because like I said "I've raced a couple in the past that were making between 500-550 and it was a very close race because they had a lot of weight reduction, and had a very well setup car.

I'm just looking for at least one interesting race before I have to park the car for a year.
