....i think the people that buy them are mostly die-hard mopar fans...given the fact that they are building a little over 1100 for the US.
i dont think they are necessarily buying them strictly for the performance aspect...

Theyre building a lot more than 1100.

I speak from experience (rode with my buddy)- from a 60 mph roll against the 392 which was already about half car in front and hits it first- The 5.0 caught up and was dead even till 120is.

The 5.0 is bone stock 450 miles and an auto. The 392 not sure it sounded like it had exhaust though.

thats awesome 60 it was like the top of second gear. good pull. i wish there was more video of races online.

Theyre building a lot more than 1100.

nah i thought it was 700 for the states and 300 for canada region

No. Not at all. Every 2012 srt8 will have a 6.4, so the jeeps, 300, challenger and charger will be a 392 6.4 hemi.

The 1100 you speak of is actually the inagural edition challenger.

Even if it was 700 us and 300 canada, last i checked thats not
1100 like you stated.

I agree. still the best retro design imho. but the 2011+ shelby gt500 is the best looking american made muscle car.
I gotta disagree. Its the best looking Shelby but I gotta hand it to the 302 Boss as the best looking American car out now.

That's what I thought. I remember seeing the limited quantities were the ones that had the two tone interior white and blue which look reallt sweet! Those seats looked extremely comfy and nice! Glad Dodge stepped it up in interior. Still pretty disappointed how its a neck to neck car against the rest of the pack regardless of the bigger engine and power.

....maybe im wrong but last time i checked , chrysler was going to build a little over 2000 srt8's with the 392. a little over 1100 were set aside for the US and the rest to be shipped to other countries.
i dont see any discrepancy with that based on the fact that dodge itself is trying to come out of bankruptcy ...i would think that its trying not to go all out in the performance dept (since not every family in america needs a 2 door sports car) and just make enough to satisfy the few gearheads out there, and at the same time deliver vehicles from performance to practicality.

someone can correct me if im wrong but i went to allpar.com and it says 1492 are set to be sold in the US and 392 are set to be sold in canada.

I already corrected it. Every new srt8 model has a 6.4 hemi in it. The 6.1 line has been done being made for over a year now and is all done. Every new 2012 srt 8 challenger, 300c, charger, jeep will be equipt with a 470 Hp 6.4 ltr motor. The 1492 is the limited edition first batch, limited colorway inagural edition challengers. First to get a 392 but, theyre all getting it. Theres also a blower option for later 2012/2013 models
Bringing it to 570 HP factory.

I would say its a drivers race..Dodge guys will say the Challenger, ford guys the 5.0 and the chevy guys will say the SS..I would have to go with what I see at the track around here,,5.0=12.9 to 13.3 Challenegr= 13.3 to 13.8 SS camaro= 13.4 to 13.6..Now I am just stating what I see around here..stock for stock..once you start modding them it changes the game..

I ran into a 392 challenger about a month ago. From a second gear roll, I pulled on him HARD, even with poor traction on my part. Nice cars, but they just don't have the nuts. I haven't ran a 5.0 to see how they would compare, but I ran a SS with exhasut from a high roll and it also got ugly quickly.

Also, some of the color combos on the Boss make it one of the uglier cars on the road IMHO. The GT500 looks a lot more agressive.

The 392 is no match for a stock GT500. If you have any mods on the Shelby vs. the SS, GT, or SRT.... fugget about it. That is like clubbing baby seals.......:nonono:

<----------likes to club baby seals :) 530whp on a mustang dyno.
I don't pick the fights though. I just get harassed and respond. Some kid in a 3.8 Genesis coupe was even harassing me....but I just laughed at him at the next light. He agreed and started laughing!

GT500 looks better than BOSS to me.

I'd say drivers race perhaps with slight edge to 5.0 vs the 392. Both have the edge on the SS.

I like the challenger's looks, but I couldn't buy a dodge.

Those would be 6.1 ETs, not 6.4/392s.

wrong!! brand new 6.4 392s challengers, Please do not try and tell me what I see with my own eyes,Like I stated this is what I see around here..

Horrible drivers don't count. They are .1 quicker to .2 slower than 5th gen Camaros while 5.0s run 12.9s? I don't think so. You're quoting 6.1 times. Stock to stock they will run with 5.0s provided it's the 5 speed auto.

The new 392 Challengers, with trap speeds at 112mph to 114mph, are a tad faster than the GT 5.0, or the LS3 Camaro. Much faster than the L99 SS. Of course, driving skills are required. I recently saw a C5 Z06 running 14's all night, but did not let that image burn into my primary visual cortex......

Who do you think has been on that board for years giving advice on how to get 2.0x or less 60fts with the 6.1s A5s? The manuals are notoriously hard to launch properly and run slower than the automatics.

If you think 392s are running 13.5s @ 107mph, I have a bridge for sale.

Realllllllllyyy..dude how hard is it to drive and auto??..so you are saying we should only use the times the pro drivers run or the good drivers..my bad,,guess my car runs 11.1 bone stock cause someone did it..That is the stupidest thing i ever heard,,go back to the SRT8 boards and tech all them guys how to drive,,maybe then they can get them out of the mid 13s..
