I'm not so much after the "look at me" of the car. I could care less if someone hates the looks. I don't mind the looks. Not calling you a liar, but your intake, midpipe and gear Mach pulled on full bolt on LS2 gto's (A4 or M6?)?

Just from reading around a full bolt on LS2 gto would be sitting around 380+ with tune, full exhaust and intake...

You think maybe it was a driver race and they suck? lol

heres one of the videos:

he had no passengers and i had three.

its a 6.0 M6 (mods in description) and he can def drive the hell outta the car.

every girl i took on a date has compliment something about my car..mostly the exhaust tone and the whole black/white theme, other then that they don't know the difference between a v6/gt/mach1/cobra

smitty2919 about two years ago I had the same idea of getting a GTO and out of my Mach.I found a blue gto 6.0L and went for a drive and well you can feel the weight of the car ALOT.

I still have my Mach:banana:

IMO keep the Mach

First off, thanks for the honest replies fellas.

It just hit me today that I JUST got done breaking in my new clutch...I have done brakes and I bought the car from the first owner of the car with ALL maintenance records and even window sticker and build sheet laminated...unless I came across the same kind of car in a GTO then it would be a gamble in terms of history.

The trunk of the GTO is somewhat concerning...I have a dog with a roughly 2 ft x 4ft collapsible crate and it fits in the mustang...I have yet to open the GTO trunk and see what I'm dealing with for storage.

Many people will say "who needs a back seat / trunk space in a muscle car?" well I DO! I want it to be a NICE, comfy as possible, powerful, agile fun car.

I'm a little iffy on the hydraulic clutch too...I like FEELING my clutch, not to mention there is more to go wrong with leaks etc rather than a cable breaking...They are known to have some "rear end clunk" which may be axle shafts...I've heard of people breaking their shifter (WTF?)

I'll prob still go drive one and see what they are about though.

The ignition lock cylinder also locks up on the GTO's and will leave you stranded some place. The key is also a large item:D

They are VERY nice cars and sound great with a cam, like you said just got to drive one.

We Cobra guys think our cars are "God's gift" eh?

Ok buddy. That's gonna win you a lot of friends on a forum named SVTperformance.com, just saying.

Looking forward, if you want 6.0L power maybe you should consider stepping up to a bigger 4V...like a 5.4. And guess what... stock compression on your mach ain't cutting it either. At the end of the day it's still at little 4.6.

My buddy picked up a navigator setup for 250 bucks.
Get it cleaned up and drop in some high compression pistons (11:1/12:1).
Drop on your heads with a nice cam.
Buy the reichard racing adapter plates...

You don't need any extra parts. Everything bolts right up. It will cost about as much as a blower would, hell less if you shop smart.

The reason the Goat seems soo appealing is because Ford threw in a little 4.6 with less than adequate compression. If you want to run with the big boys N/A, step it up. The 4V modular motor is better than you give it credit for. I don't blame you either... Everyone thinks this is a game of slapping on a blower or throwing in camshafts. In fact it's much more than that.

Good luck man. Keep the Mach and take the less traveled route.

My buddy had an 06 with a 418 in it. Personally I loved the car, was very comfy, a tad quicker than my eaton swap mach (he had a 418 tho) . I was very tempted to get one back then. And i think his drove awsome. But yes they are most certainly a bit on the heavy side! There both good cars, do what makes you happy bro!

LOL I knew someone would get touchy over that. I didn't mean it to piss people off, but you can't lie that on average that is the feeling of Cobra owners...would I like to own a 03/04 Cobra? Hell yes lol

I repect/like all things fast and fun. I'm leaning toward keeping the Mach. With the issues the GTO's can and do have I don't think the performance gains and price tag is worth getting into one over the Mach.

I could just peice together a Vortech setup on the cheap side and be hitting ~400hp. It will be maintenance friendly (some tubing and oil lines), I won't have to deal with peicing together an eaton kit and the centrifugal ratains more of the factory parts than an eaton (swaping out the intake etc).

You can't go wrong either way. I had an 06 Mustang GT but I wrecked it at the track. Prior to wrecking it I was looking at Mach 1s and GTOs. I test drove a Mach 1. I liked it but the interior seemed a bit antiquated but would be liveable. At the drag strip I would to a few guys that had GTOs. At first I really didn't care for the look but the more I saw them the more I began to like them. The seats seemed much more comfortable than my mustang and they are. I went ahead and bought an 04 GTO with an MS3 cam, L/T headers and a catted X. My mustang had a decent amount of power. It dynoed 322/318. It had a few boltons and 4.10s but my GTO is definitely faster and much more comfortable. If the car is a d/d, I would go with the GTO. I bet your wife would be more comfortable in it. If it's a weekend or a car for fun, then you can't go wrong with either choice.

I wanted a gto.... to be honest the reason I didn't.. they are ugly! Interior gave me a headache ( at 20 years old that shouldn't give me a headache) my mach gets way more attention and with the money your going to blow on the gto you could make the mach 550 rwhp n.a

Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk

THIS- plus if you want to go over 500 rwhp affordably the 03/04 Cobra is a MUCH better platform than the GTO. Even with the LS2.

But if you have your heart set on a GM product the GTO isn't terrible. IMO it's just not as nice as a Cobra... and even though you're not likely to get over 400 rwhp N/A the Mach is still a beast. You can build a 350 rwhp Mach fairly affordably and have a high 10 low 11 second car. More than enough to take out most bolt on F-Body's and GTO's.

LS2 GTO > LS6 GTO = Mach 1

yes i agree with you....but it wont be a huge difference.. plus i have no intake manifold work and my cams are very mild.. gto is just too ugly.. if you really want a gm get a 02 ws6,camaro ss but just wanted to show that a mach can hold its own..

Can't disagree here (Except on your ugly comment. Looks are always subjective). The idea of a Mach 1 with cams, longtubes, tuned, and 4:10 always intrigued me. Wouldn't have been the best DD though. LOL
