??.. That's how they do all their acceleration testing. Have you ever seen Motor Trend testing on a drag strip? Just because the test method is not up to your standards, does not mean its not a test.. In my original post, I was pointing out acceleration times done by the same people using the same tools, just on different cars for comparison purposes.. I am sure its quite obvious to anyone with half a brain that on a prepped surface with the right tire choice, almost any capable car tested by Motor Trend in this manner will show better results on a drag strip..

Controlled test or not, still not an actual 1/4 mile pull, and thus just an estimate.

The problem is Ford's decision not to release factory performance numbers and leaving us with whatever crappy reporting the mags do. This is all on Ford and I know people from Ford Performance frequent this site so I hope they read this. A simple press release indicating what each GT350 variant does would clear things up quickly. Mags might still get "bad" numbers, but at least we know what the car can do stock with a good driver and conditions. This would also give mags a baseline for their testing.

For example all but MotorWeek were able to match or beat GM's published times for the new Camaro. Having manufactures numbers to work against might help them find flaws in their testing methods. Instead we got a 12.4 so I guess that's all it can do!

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. Ford has turned the hype machine up to 11, so high, it would be amazing if the car could deliver on all the hype.

I'm sure it's a great car, but all the innuendo about how great it is, with no actual independent test results is getting old.

Did you guys really expect more than a low 12s 1/4mile time? It's a high revving low torque motor in a 3,700lb+ car. That time is expected IMO. What matters with this car is HOW it drives not what numbers it puts down in a straight line. It's a road course car.

I think motor-trend puts out the best video content of any publication right now and thoroughly enjoy their magazine. Not sure how they're a shit magazine?

The first remarks from motor trend is saying the GT350R is worth 25k over msrp as a track vehicle. I would say that at least initially is living up to the hype!

I'd love to know how many people at motor trend own an $80,000 plus car?

Do you really think the 350R is worth 80k?

If it rolls with the $130K 991 GT3... Hell, maybe.

PS I wouldn't buy one for that price because I don't want to spend more than I make in a year on a car lol.

Yes.

Meh, I can't get too excited about it. People know the car is 526 hp, and they know what it weighs. Do the math.

The car lacks torque. Especially down low. But my local dealer has an unsold unit coiming for November. I told them to call me as I'd like to drive it.

When Ford engineers can put together a Mustang for less than 40k that can at least put down Camaro SS numbers then call me. I'm sick of trying to defend them at this point. The regular GT/PP should be putting down these numbers by now. Ford had a chance to do the 2015 cars right and they screwed the pooch. It's time to build all Mustangs in Aluminum and give all GTs the Voodoo and make it right. Stop playing customers for fools.

I hate GM and the crap they have pulled over the years but you can't deny their engineers (when given the chance) can pull off some incredible feats and for just once I want Ford to do it too. It just seems like they are "phoning it in" talking about "lightweight" and all the trouble they went through (hype to 11) and then selling a 2 door coupe that weighs 3700+ pounds and expecting people to take them seriously. No Ford, if you wanted me to care about the work you (allegedly) did to make this car "lightweight" it should actually show. This is a disgrace. Everybody knew a new, lighter Camaro was coming and you ****ed up by phoning it in and now look. A regular run of the mill V8 Camaro will run head to head with Ford's "best" effort. Unless of course you "double down" for the R version and even that is barely ahead. This reeks of more Shelby name money grabbing horseshit IMHO.

This is ridiculous and someone at Ford needs their shit pushed in for this bullshit. We need another "Terminator". Make GM wish they would never have brought the Camaro back. I know Ford has the capacity, whether they have the will is another matter entirely. I'm beginning to think they don't anymore.

Sorry for the rant but seriously this is getting tiresome. Team Mustang either needs to put up or shut up.

Actually yes I do. And it's more like 90k. 63+25
It's strong faster and turns better than the 90k GT4. Not to mention the mention keeping up with the 130k GT3.
Now if there was 10k units of the R being built that value would drop drastically.

But the new 'maro SS has almost the same HP and 0-60 numbers, yet is only 43k with decent options

BWAHAHAHAHA! That is so awesome.....

It really is. Even better that there is a huge rant on how awesome the new 'maro is compared to the GT350, when not a single car of either flavor has been shipped and delivered and not a single lap time from a single track has been posted

INstead we have 1 crumby dyno run and some Vbox numbers. ****ing hilarious that some homers will get all bent out of shape out over such a data point

The SS is damn close considering it is handicapped with Badyears. Never drive the GT350 but I know from personal experience that the Gen 6 Camaro Alpha platform is eye opening in every way handling wise. Still if you think about it I am a bit let down that a base no handling package SS can even be mentioned in the same sentence as the GT350. SS, and Scat Pack base models may just be the best pony cars bargains available. I do love the appeal aesthetically of the GT350, and it is the only S550 model I find amazingly appealing.

They have had a mustang gt that has the same power to weight as the terminator for the past 5 years! They created the 662hp gt500, a lot of exotics still don't have that much hp, what does gm have with that power? Now they have a car that is neck and neck with the GT3 that cost 2 to 3 times as much! Not too mention the base is as fast as the z51 and costs less!

I see gm as having its head in the sand not Ford!
