I love these threads.

I've got to get a shotgun. Any recommendations?

My local gun shop is having a special on them.
I have one that I keep under the back seat of my truck stocked up with 00...works flawlessly.....I'm using a mini 14 in 300 blackout for home defense.

Well because I live in Dumb****istan there's no way I can transport loaded shotguns legally. It's handcannons only.

Thanks Russia.

Lately I've been loading some winchester #4 buckshot

27 pellets of .24 caliber balls. Should definitely do the trick.

My neighbors are RIGHT on top of me, but I do have 3 houses within 50 yards, so better be safe than sorry

I have a Mossberg 930 SPX pistol grip which is a great bang for buck for the money. Next better options are all over $1,000, whereas you can get an SPX for about $750 or so.

Ammo wise, well, apparently shotguns are worth a damn when it comes to penetration so there is no point in further discussing it, ha.

Same, but it kicks like a mule. Make sure to practice with it first.
Thanks for the heads up. Haven't fired it yet, but, I do hear those rounds have some PAH.

I've also got a couple hundred target loads I'm going to mess with at one point too. Hornady ammo is pretty pricey (13-15 bucks for 10 rounds) sure hope it's worth it.

what was that last round they kept shooting? Sounded like he said wax. could not hear it.

Said they do not recommend it for home defense?

Unless you are in an apartment complex, I personally would focus on a pistol, rifle or shot gun with a good weapon light and laser. I personally would grab my AR15 due to its capacity and accuracy. It is equipped with an EOtech and streamlight laser/light combo. I have Hornady TAP poly tipped rounds (look them up).

As the test show, unless you severely decrease the range and lethality, penetration of dry wall is highly likely.

If your perp is armed, you may need to penetrate a wood door, car window, car door etc.

That's why the FBI ammo testing includes barriers. Additionally, ballistics gelatin doesn't fully mimic bones.

One more thing, go shoot with your local IDPA, USPA, or 3 gun group. There is no substitute for practicing under pressure and on the move.

My local IDPA allows people to shoot the pistol stages with shotguns on steel match days.

Finally, always cycle through your defensive ammo. You don't have to practice extensively with it, but you need to ensure correct operation and you don't want to bet your life on that mag sitting in your glove box for 5 years.
