What is your rev limit set to?

Just got my tune back and asked what the rev limit had been set to. He said 7k.. seems pretty high for a factory mod engine, especially pushing the boost and power that I'm at. Curious to see what y'alls thoughts are on that.

Context:
Car currently has gen 4 2.9L Whipple crusher at ~24psi, E85, meth injection. Last dyno was on 21psi (high elevation) and made 775whp

7k. But I shift at 6500 for piece of mind.
Yeah I had no intentions of letting it get that high before shifting. Which is why I almost want to ask him to lower it to something a little more conservative like 6600 or 6700.

They were doing me a solid on this deal and already sent the tune back over to me so I hate to bother him with another request. Even if I would be compensating them for it.

My shift light is actually set to 6000. Because I know by the time I react I'll be around 6500.

I'd rather keep it high so there's less chance of hitting it. I imagine the harmonics aren't good for the oil pump.

I see what you mean. 7000 seems a bit excessive for a factory longblock though doesn't it? Especially at twice the factory power levels.

I'm sure it'll be fine. The limiter is a last ditch effort to stop the engine. Just stay away from it. Invest in a shift light so you don't have to watch the tach.

6500 for me. Maybe I should raise it, blow it up, so I can do a gen 2 Coyote with a TVS.

In all seriousness, my tuner asked me where I wanted it and I told him 6500. I could probably go to 6700 or 6800 but why. It’s plenty fast for me.

Mine is set to 6,200 but I'm going to up it to 6,300 or 6,400 for this season.

When does it stop making power? No sense on reving it much higher. Mine stops at 6200. Mine is set for 6700. I have my shift light set for 6200 to give me time to react. My valve train is built for 7k plus.
That's a good point. I need to get it dyno'd here so I can verify what the power curve looks like. I was thinking of having mine set to 6700 as well, especially since it's all factory right now.

Want to say 6800 for me but I set the shift light to 6500.

Same, but im just tach'n it. No light. In first, it's all traction dependent but around 6200 is what I try for, and in second usually 6500 is enough time to get it in before the limiter. Ive lightly clipped it on the 2-3 a few times, admittedly. Nothing serious.

I hit the limiter on the 1-2 shift the other day when I took my dad for drive. Then I missed the very next 2-3. What a noob.

Oh boy... lol. It's easy to do especially if the tires hook at the bottom of the gear but then break loose unexpectedly at the top. (My car makes peak hp at 6800, so it just keeps digging harder and harder all the way up, which is very satisfying, but sometimes a bit sketch). That's always how I know my drag radials have died. Haha

I tagged it a few weeks ago when I raced a foxbody. He wanted to start at 60 and I tried to start in second. Ended up spinning then tagging the limiter. Oops.
