They are walking away, they don’t seem as focused on supersport bikes in general anymore.. they are no longer the top sellers. I don’t know what that means for the sport, it is worrisome. I enjoy motogp and have been to COTA for Motogp races… also F1.Ducati is dominating both WSBK and MotoGP. Japan is completely lost lately. The big 4 are either walking away or barely hanging on. It's really concerning.
The big sellers now are the bikes that they would have shown a lady wearing an open-face helmet riding in the brochures 15 years ago. Even MotoGP schedule reflects the change. They're obsessed with going to ghetto countries where the poor people ride Chinese scooters rebranded as Japanese bikes. They are walking away, they don’t seem as focused on supersport bikes in general anymore.. they are no longer the top sellers.

It's sad.
The R6 was essentially the same bike going back to 2006, then they can it saying sales have dipped. Funny, people didn't want to drop 12k on a 14 year old bike.I recall getting excited when Yamaha announced an R7, since they had killed the R6… I was thinking its going to be a 700 something supersport, naw dog… parallel twin making 70hp…
Lol… just so happens I have one, still runs great, though was never compelled to buy a newer model. You should see what late model R6s are going for, ****ing crazy, more than new MSRP… out of my previous bikes I like it the most. Have also had a cbr600rr and 636 of the same vintage. The 636 was a lot of fun too.The R6 was essentially the same bike going back to 2006, then they can it saying sales have dipped. Funny, people didn't want to drop 12k on a 14 year old bike.
European restrictions on bikes didn't help either.
My first street bike was the Suzuki SV650, making about the same power as the new R7. Sad.
COTA is cool, I've been to a handful of races there. Also been to races at Laguna Seca, Mugello and Misano... (In the Laguna Seca podium photo, Rossi is sitting down because he had a broken leg and threw his crutches into the crowd. The ducati guy is in the sack with the suzuki guys… under the covers
If you ever get the opportunity to go to Mugello, you have to. I was trying to describe it to my friend who goes to races with me a lot before we went out there together. I said Imagine Laguna Seca MotoGP, but people are allowed to ride around on scooters and motorcycles, get drunk and are trying to get kicked out for bad behavior. Lol
It's such a madhouse.
The flesh eating bacteria, the jelly fish, the crabs, the chocolate milk colored water... what's not to love about Galveston? Lol
