I have a lake house in Clear Lake IA. Home of the Surf Ballroom which is the last venue that Buddy Holly Played. He died in a plane crash leaving Clear Lake. They hold a tribute concert every year at the Surf in his honor. The town is investing 35 million in updating the area around the Surf to be a tourist destination to honor Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper.

A great place to visit and take in a show at the Surf Ballroom.

It is! Lotsa very cool history there.

Thanks.

BTW, the dude left rear of the pic is Waylon Jennings. Pretty sure that’s the top of Dion’s head at the drums. Not sure if that’s Alsup on the right or not.

I got some soft b/w pics stashed somewhere I’ll dig up.

I'm wrong in this post. That's not Dion's head. It's Carlo Mastrangelo.
Found the pics and it's a better shot of Carlo.
(l-r) Waylon Jennings, Richie Valens, Carlo Mastrangelo, Tommy Allsup.

Buddy Holly played drums (far left) during Dion and the Belmont's performance that night. That's Dion singing on guitar.

Those Opel GTs were good looking (mini-Corvette lines) but the factory power was anemic. LOL. "The Opel GT was equipped with a base 1.1 L OHV inline-four engine, which produced 67 hp (SAE) at 6,000 rpm. However, most buyers chose an optional 1.9 L camshaft in head engine, which produced 102 hp (SAE) at 5200 to 5400 rpm."

Mini Ferrari lines.

While that HP seems terrible remember a VW Bug was 35hp.

OEMs competing to see who can have the biggest touchscreen. I know Cadillac is bragging about their 60" screen. Gotta be able to scroll tiktok while driving.

Give me my fighter aesthetics back.

I got to see a customer take delivery of a custom Ducati monster he did years ago. Just happened to see it in the back of a truck and recognized it from following the build on fb as me and my buddy were headed to the dealership to drool. Awesome bike and a cool dude
