Hey guys, I'm new to the site. I just bought my 1998 Ford Contour SVT and I love it. Just a few things I need to work on then it will be a true beauty. My door locks and trunk dont work on the key fob. The power door locks don't work on the door also. Any suggestions or help would be great.

you need a new battery for starters. i mean in the remote. any dealer can replace and program the remote for you in about 5 to 10 minutes.

the door locks seem to sound like your "door lock actuators" (sp). a real simple process of fixing as well. i would recomend looking around a few "junk yards" unless $$$ is no object.

btw congrats, i just got mine 2 weeks ago.

I'm pretty sure the battery is fine in the key fob. I have a viper remote starter and alarm. I think the guy did all the wiring himself so something might be messed up. The guy I bought the car from isn't the one who put all this stuff in it so I can't ask him, he already said he wasn't sure about the door locks and he didn't look into it. When I hit the lock and unlock button it makes a clicking noise inside the car, somewhere in the dashboard. Could the door locks be messed up becuase the guy installed the alarm/starter wrong? Also, does the car have a factory alarm system? Thanks for you help.

The car doesn't have a factory alarm, but it does have the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System), hence the red light flashing on the dash.
