Hi guys, i have done my research on blower ( Eaton) noises and i think i'm having "cavitation", i just put in a ported Eaton and the truck started making this noise in idle (only when it's in drive at idle), once i put it back to neutral that the rpm's rise a bit the noise goes away completely.. I started noticing this about three to four days after the swap, i must say that i didn't prime the S/C pump and it went bad (it might have gone bad from before and i never noticed it until i started looking for the cause of the S/C noise), i don't know if this has something to do with the noise?? But from my research it seems like "cavitation".. It soungs like HHOOUUOOUUUUOOO and you hear it the most out the air filter.. What do you guys think?? :dw::dw:

It could be worse. Mine sounds like a diesel idling in drive and normal in park. I think I am in need of a blower port and rebuild.

When I re-installed my SC after the Stage 4 port, it made a good bit of noise. Since I had heard others mention they had encountered the same, I didn't fret too bad. It finally went away after time.

Well, it sure doesn't sound like a centrifugal supercharger at idle, it sounds like anything esle than a supercharger, sounds like an old boat's manual horn.. I have a new coupler i had order some time ago which i'm going to replace, but i think it's more like a bearing?? I keep wondering what are the destructive results of running the truck with out a functional S/C pump for several days?? (keeping in mind that down here in Miami is 70-85degg temp, S/C over-heats quicker/ higher temps).. Does any body know what usually goes bad when the S/C pump fails and the truck is driven for some time after it fails??

Replace the coupler and see if it sounds better (you already have it so use it) make sure you grease the needle bearings in the back of the case, if that don't fix it, you probably need a front drive rebuild.

Yeah, i'll be doing that tomorrow after work.. Is there a special/better kind of grease for the needle bearings?? or just regular all purpose thick grease?? Also, by any chance would you know what the torque of the snout to case screws is??

What is a supercharger pump? Are you refering to the intercooler water pump? You can drive without it working, but just don't get into boost. When you put the ported blower on, did you repack the bearings and use the correct oil for the case?

Yeah, i'm refering to the intercooler water pump.. I didn't repack the bearings, don't know what it is to repack the bearings to be honest.. The oil i used is Mobil 1, 75w90 synthetic oil, i was told it's better than the oil they sell thru the Ford dealer.. Is this correct??

Just curious, what rpm is your truck at, idle in park?? What should it be??

It idles at about 650-700 in drive and 700-750 in park which is where it was from stock.. With the Accufab single blade it would idle around the same in drive (it would take a bit longer to get there than with the stock TB) but in park it would go up to 900rpm's in idle..

OK, it's fixed!!:dancenana::dancenana: I replaced the blower back to my stock blower (which for sure wasn't making this noise) and it still made the noise it was making with the ported blower.. So at this point i have a new Idle Air Control Valve, a different blower with new oil and a new coupler and it's still making the noise (and it was coming out the air filter).. Finally, i checked my last resourse, the throttle body. The throttle body was working perfect, i toke it off, cleaned it really good and reinstalled it, it still made the noise, so i went back and looked at the last thing before i check off the T-body, my TPS. I rechecked the volts and it was way past 1.00 volts (don't know how this happened cause i had adjusted it before to .99volts), i readjusted it to .98 volts and it fixed my problem. To test this, i started my truck and let it idle, i put it in drive with the e-brake on (make sure you have a rock or something in front of 1 or 2 tires) and loosen the 2 screws to the TPS, then move it clockwise (to raise the volts) and listen to the engine/ air filter, then move it counter clockwise ( to lower the volts) and you will notice a different sound.. But any ways, thanks for everyone's help...

Glad you got it fixed man. I know how frustrating it is to have a problem that you just can't seem to find the source. On the flip side, I also know the feeling when you figure it out and you just want to go drive it and then come back home, sit on the couch, and have a beer lol
