since he was a big guy he could be a breecher and that is his secondary weapon. would make senses if he where a grunt?

m240 is a bad bitch but in a rifle squad with no attachments from weapons if my big guys not a boot im gonna give him the shoty and the breech kit if we had it, now being in a intantry unit good luck with getting a breech kit thats what 0351 are for and the shotguns are for killing dogs. but this situation sounds different. i know when i went over i carried 2 m16 and a m4 put the 2 16's in the armory and patrolled with the m4. def. not short on weapons.
I really don't think the army as a whole is short of weapons. As I said before a pant load of stuff has been diverted to Afghanistan. Hell we had a unit show up in TQ that was supposed to be there for the long haul, they were there a month and then packed up and shipped off to afghanistan. a few of them wound up here in Ramadi but most went to Afghani. that little sleight of hand must have cost the Military a pretty penny.

im sure the army as a hole isnt running out of weapons. but i know the amount of combat troops is being diverted to afgan. so i can see what your talking about.
I carried both a Mossberg 500A Defender shotgun and my M4 (plus my M9) in Iraq when I was there in (2005). We used it for breaching mostly and in traffic sometimes. We actually had one per platoon and it was normaly given to the lead trucks gunner. Thats crazy if he really had to swap with someone for a rifle.
Once when I was in training we were outta blanks and we had to run around yelling "butter butter jam" over and over again.
Well, from what I have seen. Any Army Infantry unit, expecially those in the 18th Airborne Corp, has plenty of weapons. And yes the Mossberg 500 is issued in each platoon, the idea behind it was for breaching. However, in theater you should have got a breach kit, like hooligan tools also. So whoever said they have never seen a shotgun, I don't know what to say bro, they are all over the place.
pouge is a pejorative used my arrogant military members who think they are better than others because of their MOS. Much like the term fobbit. POG is another form of the same thing.
I know what a POG is. Ive never seen it spelled pouge and it puzzles me why it would be since POG is an acronym for Persons Other than Grunts.
dunno. when he used it in his post I knew it was meant as an insult and figured it was something along the lines of fobbit but had to go look it up in the urban dictionary

As stated above nobody is running out of weapons over there. Dude was just a POG that gets to eat 5 hot meals a day with ice cream and cookies in the chowhall. Probabaly a HQ comm guy that only goes out to fix radios twice a month, which is why he got a shotgun. Nobody is out kicking in doors anymore so the shotguns aerent really needed in the infantry units, this guy doesnt really need a rifle so they have him a shotgun just so he has something. Perfect fit.
I kind of agree.
Like my platoon sergeant used to say, there's really only two departments in the army--Infantry and support.
