Dr. Gridlock - Md. unveiling new license plate

I think it sucks.
I'm a MD native, and I have always been proud to wear the Coat of Arms on the tag (though I still have some of the old blue and white tags from the 60's and 70's in my garage).

As a BIG TIME license plate guy, words can't begin to describe how much I hate that design...

And I sure didn't see many positive comments. My personal favorite was: "looks like it was done with clip art on a circa 1994 computer."

I guess I have simple tastes. You can have your Montana Cowboy, and Georgia Peach. They look fine, just not for me. But I will never have one of those new MD monstrosities on a car of mine. I'll get a Bay, or Farm, or register out of state first.

I agree with Greg... I will continue to get the farm tags. War of 1812? I can think of so many other things that Maryland is known for other than the War of 1812. And they would look so much better on a license plate. *shakes head*

I really liked the plain white/black letters of the MD tags because it looked good on any color car. I'd never want something with a crazy elaborate design that looks retarded on any sort of vehicle. VA plates are pretty plain as well, which is cool. The only other thing I'll be putting on mine is Testudo.


War of 1812? Nobody even knows that had to do with MD. Why not put a damn crab on the plate?

Guess I will have to Save the Bay on the next go round. That is just too busy for me. Site say's 62% of voters dislike the plate. Why cant we have 150 options for plates like Florida

I could do a better license plate design on microsoft paint free handed then this plate. The graphic design of this is about A 6TH grade level

wow thats ugly guess thats probably one more thing we can thank our wonderful govenor for. i personally will transfer my plates to any new car i buy if that is gonna be the tag.

Actually, I've got the farm tags on my red Grand Am (DD) and had the personalized black and white tags on my Mystichrome. When I had my CompO v-6 I had the University of Florida MD tags cause the orange and blue school colors matched perfectly (yes, I'm a Gator girl).

I definitely think that the plates make or break the looks of a car.
