13/14 GT500 Value Depreciation

Do you guys ever wonder how the 13/14 GT500 value is going to hold up over time? I'd imagine it'd be similar to 03/04 Termis, but with a higher cost plateau.

I've been asked by auto enthusiast friends/co-workers what other work I want to have done to my '14, and they're shocked when I say "I'm done." Unmolested Terminators seem to have held their value extremely well, so I'm trying to match that mentality. 1000-1500mi per year doesn't add up to much.

Any ideas or predictions on what these cars will be worth in 10-15 years?

That's a long time from now. Very hard to say. I think a lot will have to do with what ford comes out with in 2019. If it is a GT500, what kind of motor is in it ect. I think that will set the stage for whatever depreciation value comes with the 13-14 models. Of course the low mile, non modified cars will hold their value more than the modded higher mileage cars. But thats any year vehicle. These were only a 2 year run car with less made than the 03-04 cobra when they came out so thats a positive.

Agreed. Hard to say what is going to happen in the distant future. But I am optimistic. Watching the current market, there is very little depreciation so far, and most of it occurs in the firs 1 to 5 years.

Also, for what it's worth... I own a 2013 GT500 and (according to Ford) there were only 15 built that are identical to mine (packages and color combo's). A local collector saw my car at a show this past Summer and offered me $100k to part with it on the spot. I declined.

I would think these would hold value like the 03-04 Cobra except more $ obviously. Would love to get into a DIB 13-14 someday.

Well some cars are really down on price. Seen a quite a few on cars.com for 41k. Sure they have 40k miles and a few cars are asking 55k low mileage so quite a big gap happening now.

Yea... Mine is perfect shape with about 3,500 miles on it. Between that and the unique package combo, if I ever sell this one, I think we will do pretty good.

I nabbed mine for an excellent price- CarFax showed it was a trailer queen going from auction to auction.

I'm seeing ones with similar packages/etc and low miles go for around $55k right now, which is more than what I paid.

I'm planning for the future- I obviously want to keep this a while. Now that I tore that God-awful spring out of the clutch pedal it is a dream to drive. But, should anything happen I want to make sure I can get a good chunk back out of it.

LOL^^^^

I will likely never get rid of the car for sentimental reasons. My father in-law bought the car new, put about 1,500 miles on it in about 3 months, and then unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on Memorial Day.

What makes it even tougher is, He was a huge muscle car fan and always owned 1 of the latest of the big 3. He told the salesman that he was buying the car so his daughter (my wife) would have something to remember him by. Sadly, its like he knew he was going to pass soon.

I believe this story as much as buying ocean side property in Kansas

Wow, really. You think someone would lie about their father in-law dying and inheriting a car? You are one dark mo fo.

Shit... I just realized you are in Stafford. I'm in Woodbridge. If you ever want to swing by the house or grab a beer, I'll introduce you to the wife and give you the collector's name in person. Not in a rush to put other people's info on the web without their permission. There is a chance you may know him if you are in the local auto industry.

He's calling you out on some random guy seriously offering you $100,000 for the car.

Unless the car is a Supersnake it's not worth $100k and that collector has more money than sense.

Found a 2014 with 894 miles on it for less than 50K this morning.
There are some deals out there for those in the market.

I think depreciation will all depend on the current owner base. It will be based on how much, the current owners, actually appreciate the car. If people start letting them go / selling, for pennies on the dollar, value will plummet.

If the people that own this car, actually realize how special the car is and dont look for a quick sale just to jump ship, the car will hold its value.

Dont give it away fellas.

I know... My first two sentences were a joke.

Also, I didn't say the guy who offered me the $100k was a random guy. I said he came up to me at a car show. He's actually someone I've known since 2011.

While generally I agree with you, a wise man once said, what you're selling is worth whatever someone is willing to pay you for it.

I recently purchased a 2014 with 23k, tech package, track package, Recaro seats, glass roof (LOVE IT) for 45k, which after looking around was an absolute steal and I love the car. I sold my 2012 back in October because after learning how much better then 13/14's are I lost all my love for the car. My 12 put down just under 510 to the wheels stock, my 14 put down 630 (606 corrected) stock and the 14 drives SO much better!

The 14 gets washed and then garaged under the car cover, I take it out rarely on nice days. Mileage will never get to 30k I'd guess, and I'll enjoy every second of the time I do drive it!
