Would the Terminator Cobra make a good Cannonball Run type car?

Recently my friend and I have been talking about the idea of doing one of these rally's across America in my Terminator. Not really racing but more of convoying cross country at speed. I was wondering would the car be a good canvas to start with?

yes. I am building my car for those types of events and half mile. but I would have concerns depending on mods and HP level.

You are in 5th and 6th gear a lot, depending on power level, that could be a problem. Those gears are not really built to handle a lot of abuse in stock t56 and are more overdrive gears.
Also, Worth mentioning, although I have never had problems, but You can do a search and read about some motor concerns in regards to continuous WOT pulls in 5th. Probably back off well before redline would be good idea if motor is stock internals. E85 might help a little as it is a cooler burning fuel.
Make sure all of your cooling is in place. small pully eatons, older KB/whipples might run hot depending on the run.
Last....brakes!! I would look into at a minimum some higher performance pads and or rotors. You will get up to speed, otherwise you just tend to lose some of the pack. Slowing from 140is not the same as slowing from 90 on the freeway. But then again, that's how we do rally's in Texas :D

Thanks for the tips. I've already got scanners, detectors, and a couple of laser jammers on the way. But I'll keep all of that in mind. Right now the car has around 500-515 horsepower so...

I say yeah, especially since you already have it. Anything done to it?

It's got around 500 horsepower on a ported Eaton setup with supporting mods such as pulleys, Mafia MAF sensor, cold air intake, acufabb throttle body (100mm), afco heat exchanger, borla atak's (on the way), kooks off road x pipe, kooks full length headers and some other supporting mods.

I wouldn't do it unless its a built motor. Too many Horror stories of 5th and 6th WOT. With the factory tight piston to wall Clarence. Pistons can get real hot and expand then your out a motor.

If you not one to care about putting miles on the car then sure. If you plan to actually try to place in the final standings the fuel mileage would hurt you. I've stretched mine out to a little over 20 on the highway before (about 555 rwhp whipple setup)

Going to be rebuilding the whole car virtually so I might as well just fix those issues and build the motor completely while I'm at it.

Bigger fuel cell maybe?

I would do some research on this site and search for things that frequently shit the bed. At a minimum, I would take along pulleys, belts, air filter, brake pads and an alternator. Given, that it's impossible to prepare for everything that can happen, there are things on these cars that have a propensity to fail.

I'll look around. Definitely plan on bringing spare alternators lol.
