I'm sure the tech and performance will be there....but damn, I've tried to let the C7 designs grow on me but it's not going to happen. Bring on the C8

If Chevy does a DOHC engine with the amount of displacement those engines has, Ford better catch up quick like.

I was just going to say the same thing. The coyote is a bad ass motor and I am glad ford released it. I would like to see more cubic inches though. Especially if chevy does this.

I am looking for a 94 cobra now because of no emissions. I can go all out with my build.

I'm just thinking Fords 427 SOHC.. Shit made insane power back in the 60's..

Could you imagine a modern day 427CI DOHC lol.. night night to damn near anything if they can keep it in a sub 3400lb car..

I would love to see that. I know Ford built that experimental motor, the 777. Not sure if that was DOHC.

I will be honest, when I bought my cobra back in 03, I was still a little upset that it was only 281 cubic inches. But seeing that eaton kinda won me over back then lol.

Well that's Ford's go to thing.. Small CI with a power adder.. Chevy is big ci with no power adder. Then they added a damn power adder to the ZR1 and Z06 and look how well that went.. the ZL1 etc..

Ford was very clear in 96 the modular motor was necessary for the future, not for that day, and they wanted to get started on it. LS engine format has been wildly successful, but I suspect emissions/CAFE standards are going to force them to go the way of Ford. (less displacement, higher compression, more RPM) But Ford has 20yrs doing this now.

They have a N/A motor making 93hp/l now that is mass produced. I am not sure GM is going to have a massive struggle making a whatever size V8 with 4 valve heads and 7k rpms that performs great. I also don't know anyone in my circle that will be grinding their teeth. I went from the GM 6 liter to a twin turbo 4.2 V8 with 5 valve heads. I have no issues with tech.

Congratulations. I have NA 200HP/l engines in my garage. It is a different game to develop and package inexpensive DOHC engines with higher specific outputs than it is to try and make big cylinders as clean as possible.

You might not care about tech...do you work on your stuff? Plenty of GM fans have been crapping on Mustang guys over the complexity of cams and valvetrains when you start modding. Now they won't have a choice.

What are you talking about. My point is GM is already making the engine you think they won't be able to do for years and it is in a run of the mill Camaro. Everyone has a high specific output engine all the way down to a Hyundai. It is not that difficult.

OHC isn't some alien technology that will take GM decades to figure out. Hell, it's older tech than OHV and all of their others engines are OHC.

I'll think they'll be just fine if/when they make the change.

The original modular motors from Ford were a compromised design so they could fin in a fwd Lincoln. The coyote didn't have that constraint, so they were able to bump the displacement and relieve some of the valve shrouding that plagued the 4.6.

Amsoil engine masters challenge had 400+ CI mod motors for 1 year. They swept the competition in every metric.

Looks cool. But not a fan of the rims but who says that will be on the production car? Perhaps it will look better in black as mentioned. I am sure the final product will be amazing.

And DHG - I am loving that picture in your signature.

Ford GT, Raptor, Focus RS, GT350 (R), Focus ST, Fiesta ST, Fusion Sport, Explorer Sport isn't killing it?
Some of those cars you list are what I would call killing it (GT, Raptor, 350, FiST). Some of them however, not so much.
